Too late to buy into Etherium if you're looking to hold for 1-2 years?

If you buy now you're buying at current ATH. If you have conviction about the asset then you're probably fine. If you'll panic sell a 30-40% drop you might want to wait. This bullmarket is only at halftime IMO though. Crystal ball is hazy

Thinking of dumping $6 grand each into Bitcoin and Etherium. Good choice or should I do otehr ratios or coins? As I say, I aim to hold for 1-2 years.

That's gunna be personal based on your conviction on each. Personally I wouldn't suggest going under 80% holdings in Bitcoin on initial investment but I know for a fact others here will disagree. You're not going full shitcoin casino so you'll probably be fine with 50/50 if you feel comfortable there. Truth is you'll need to take the time to understand the asset class and you're not likely to do that until you have skin in the game. ETH/BTC isn't a terrible spot to start

getting too weird i'm sure since it would require a binance account but if i was going to drop 12k in now I would personally go

4k BTC
4k ETH
3k VET
1k SOL

Pretty sure the total market cap of Ethereum is going to eclipse bitcoin within 3-4 months.

Fuckin hell... Back in 2015 I almost entered into a bet with a friend where if I had won (and 20/20 hindsight says I would have), he would have given me something like $100 worth of Dogecoin back then. Why the hell did I chicken out? How much would 2015 $100 of Dogecoin be worth today? Anyone know?

Just remember that you probably would have sold them well before now. A few months ago when they spiked to 8 cents, that was huge. Could have cashed out then for $80k. Every time I see something that's like "if I'd bought X thing I wanted to buy, when I wanted to buy it, it'd be worth Y now" I remember that there's no way I would have held onto X that long anyway. YMMV though!

Anything going up this fast is bound to take a bit of a dive soon. What would the dive even look like at this point, though.

I'm holding on doge until at least Saturday since Elon is hosting SNL. Shit has some some good potential to skyrocket

One thing is for sure, I've never needed more money as much as I do right now. Trying to build a mining rig, have like no Ethereum so I want to buy into that, trying to get a new TV, trying to move, paying off a car...

One or more of my current SPACs blowing up would help a lot with all of this, so here's hoping. I'm diamondhandsing VET but I'm selling my SPACs at merger announcements.

Ideally I wish I could go to Alaska or Iceland or something and work for 2 months and make some huge amount of money, then come back and pay everything off. I've heard of jobs like that where you're on-call 24/7 and it's hard work but you make a lot.

And to think people were mocking me for making a $200 gamble play on Doge at $0.28 after the ATH crash. Now, up a tad over 50% and holding.

I've already doubled my money in eth. It's insane. To the moon I guess.
My next infusion of spare investment cash will hit at end of the month. But I have around half my stack on ETH right now so I'm not unhappy...

Going to HODL for a few years? Buy in as much as you can. But remember, this also means you're going to HODL through the next bear market, so flex those diamond hands, or go see a hypnotist to make you forget about the investment until the bear ends.... (Many suspect the Bear will start late fall or early winter. Possibly as early as late Aug-early Sept). Bear coming to town will probably mean a 50-60% correction in price (i.e. drop), so be braced and ready for that storm. Then it will flatten for a while, then come back up (like plants in the spring...)

Now, there's also a theory that "it's different this time". But there are people that claim that EVERY... SINGLE... TIME... With the difference this time being that institutions that are larger are investing now, and the won't let the market fall that much. I think more accurately you'll see the first inkling of the bear, and they will pull stakes to "safe haven" hedges and that will trigger the implosion.

But with all that doom and gloom said, if you had just bought at almost any point in the past, ignored the bear markets and HODL'd you'd be F*ing rich right now.

I wouldn't argue against a 50/50 split. Neither of them are going anywhere. Chances are when the bear comes to town BTC won't fall as far as ETH though, but that's speculation at this point.

My current breakdown:

The MATIC is because I'm starting to pair MATIC with ETH and QUICK for LP provisioning on Quickswap. In case anybody is curious, the tiny slices after UniSwap are :

Quick
Chainlink (LINK)
OMG
CONV
Cosmos (ATOM)
Synthetix (SNX)
Utrust (UTK)
Algorand (ALGO)

So should I stake all my etherium into 2.0 or just some of it and keep some free? I have 10 etherium right now.
I've not staked yet. I'm REALLY not sure what the best choice will be.

people over at r/ethstaker are primarily all about Rocketpool.

rocketpool
Pro- can stake as little as .01 eth. can solo stake 32Eth on it. or, can run a validator with 16Eth, and they pool the other 16 to you.
should have good rates.
Decentralized staking.
can pull out at any time, from what I understand.

Con-its in beta, and not open yet.
When you stake, you get rEth in exchange for your eth. the rEth exchange is being considered a taxable event appearently now. both ways. in and out.

Kraken/binance/coinbase
pro- easy as hell.
more "trust" in a larger instituion.

con- not decentralized at all.
lower rates of return.
fees.
locked in for 2 years. can't withdrawn until eth2.0 goes fully live.

pro/con. not entirely sure. looks good? also, does tokens like rEth.

imho, I'd kindof love to be able to solo stake and basically retire on just Eth staking...

Fucking fuck. Someone market sold some huge pile (10M volume on 1 minute candles, normally 5-50k), dipping price by more than 40% It instantly pumped back up of course but it hit my stop and didn't fill until below my buyin price. 40% profit turned into 1% loss.

Don't use a stop loss is today's lesson I guess.
