Wait Draegan wants to play a quest hub, korean mmo that ends up with endless grinding and rng upgrading?Game looks great. Can't wait.
Yeah B&S had the same issue for most streams, in fact one of the few good streams was a korean pro gamer that won the 2014 pvp tournament and speaks broken english. He had 200+ ping and was still better than pretty much every other stream, it was kinda annoying.Holy shit these streamers are bad players...
This sounds awesomeSorcerer which is female only shadow based short range caster/monk-like hybrid,
To be fair the game is fucking confusing. I've been playing for just about an hour and I still don't know wtf is going on. They don't really explain anything and the same exact skill will kill one mob in a single hit and then take 50 hits to kill the next, it's weird. I have 8 skills and not one of them is consistent in any way and there aren't any damage numbers anywhere for me to find out what the fuck is going on. So, yeah, so far I run around and just mash shit and hope stuff dies, which is what I think most people are doing. From quickly going through BD streams, shit's the same, it's a lot of people mashing buttons and being terrible.
After soft cap, it's all about PvP (specifically nodes and sieges). Everything else in this game is just kinda background noise. (There's also the titular desert, but when I ask my friend what's in the desert, he just says "sand." Guess there isn't really anything in there yet.)After that all I hear about is endless grinding(Because there is no level cap, so you literally have to grind forever to stay competitive). And the grinding is not just levels, you need to continuously upgrade your gear(Which is RNG after a specific minimum), again no caps that I hear about and you have to keep up because gear is extremely important it seems(ie a +15 will completely destroy someone in say +10).
Hmm weren't they doing away with that system or something? Can't remember. I dunno, if there is only guild vs guild to do besides endless grinding, doesn't seem like it would have much appeal. After soft cap, it's all about PvP (specifically nodes and sieges). Problem is, PvP has extremely tight restrictions on it unless you declare war with another guild (who has to declare war back). If you kill someone who has not declared war on you, you lose a ton of Karma, and I've heard that killing two people is enough to drop your Karma into the "bad zone." When your Karma is in the "bad zone," guards will beat the shit out of you, and when you die, your gems in your equipment have a chance to break, which is a huge deal because those gems provide significant stat boosts.
Also, grinding to get Karma back up is allegedly worse than reducing Infamy in ArcheAge.
If you want PvE this is the wrong game, that's for sure. People like it for the PvP and the combat system. Not sure they're doing anything about Karma, but people are hoping that they do.Hmm weren't they doing away with that system or something? Can't remember. I just wish there was more concrete info out there. I read all these things about them removing world bosses, making housing instanced, removing player-shops etc but can't find any evidence to back them up. Plus people are saying its doing bad in Korea(probably why its being rushed to NA/EU).
I imagine the nodes would have to have slightly different rules, right? Or else it'd be just a matter of who got there first. The most heinous thing is that guilds have to mutually declare war. What nonsense.

I've always said that I could ignore shitty quests if the combat is fun. The rest of the game is suspect but its probably fun for a few weeks.Wait Draegan wants to play a quest hub, korean mmo that ends up with endless grinding and rng upgrading?
On a side note I really want to get a hold of this or find someone that has played extensively already. Since after graphics, people's only slightly good comments are on things like horse breeding and trade packs. After that all I hear about is endless grinding(Because there is no level cap, so you literally have to grind forever to stay competitive). I really want to hear/test myself to see if the reviews of it being extremely hollow after cap are true.
Also hopefully, their cash shop doesn't have things for the upgrade system, or it will just turn into ArcheAge all over again.
Leveling is done fastest by grinding (In RU I've been skipping all quests except the Black Spirit quests which are the tutorials for the different game mechanics), so you don't have to do any quests while leveling, but quests do grant something called "contribution points" and while I don't know what they're for, they seem important.I've always said that I could ignore shitty quests if the combat is fun. back when i followed this game it was totally a full sandbox mmo, literally all I heard was that it was sandbox, so not sure why you haven't heard about this, or if they changed the game design since they first announced it years back.Archeage atleast had some interesting sandbox / FarmVille elements, and exploration was fun for a while. Haven't heard anything of this sort with black desert, so it sounds like outside the fun feel of combat it's going to be a very shallow game with shitty pvp
