Board game convention in Buffalo this weekend. Not running anything this year so time to play different new games and enjoy myself.
Two Savage Worlds sessions. One with new Savage Worlds: Rifts and one custom conversion of the Pathfinder We Be Goblins module. Both extremely good times. Rifts was just awesome, huge damage numbers and the enemies to back it up. WBG was a lot of fun, killed three dogs and a horse and a spider named Many-Legs-Who-Takes-Goblin-Babies. One more session today.
Played in a Pandemic Survival game. 12 groups, each with the same two Roles, Dispatcher and Quarantine Specialist, the same sequence of Player cards and a central ref calling out Infections and Six Epidemic cards. Each player had a round of 1m:15s to make their moves and discuss strategy. Lots of fun. Really intense. Wife and I were the 4th to last people to get eliminated.
In addition to that we've filled empty time with board games. Played Kingdom Builder, some Agricola (ran out of time before our next event), Shadows Over Camelot (ditto), Tiny Epic Kingdom Defender, and Dirigible Disaster, which we bought.
Overall a really good time. There's also an auction to benefit Child's Play. Not sure how much they raised overall but they managed $785 in the annual "Torture the Con Director" item. This year they're buzzing his hair off and shaving his beard.
