Picked up Pandemic: Reign of Cthulu this past weekend. Wife and I love playing Pandemic and this is different enough from the original to offer up a new challenge. Finally managed to beat it on our 3rd attempt. It's not just a reskin either, but you can find reviews which point out the differences at the link.

Well worth your time if you enjoy the theme and like Pandemic.

Next buy is probably Pandemic: Legacy.

Yeah, if you like Pandemic you guys are going to love Legacy. My group stalled ~6 months in, we'll finish it eventually.

I doubt they'll be too deeply discounted - more likely to include additional content than to be truly cheaper. Worth it regardless though. I need some Lantern Festival.
Yeah even if it is full price, it will be cheap compared to eBay prices and any extra add one will be great, would also love an option for all the pinups.

Ah yea, if you missed out on the kingdomdeath.com copies I'm sure it'll be similar to those, no idea on eBay rates.

Sounds like you could check out Eldritch Horror. It's basically Pandemic on steroids, fighting Lovecraft gods instead of diseases.

And speaking of Eldritch Horror, a new expansion was just announced.

I love playing Eldritch Horror but it's a lengthy game that you have set aside time for. Lately I've been gravitating toward games with easy set up and that don't last too long.

So if you are like me and missed Kingdom Death it's official November 25th the Kickstarter for a reprint kicks off. I will definitely be getting a copy.

News of Death

Let’s go ahead and make it official. We will be launching a kickstarter to fund the reprint of Kingdom Death: Monster on Friday November 25, 2016 - Black Friday. I will be offering no details or glimpses, as I prefer to keep it a surprise

Man, it feels odd seeing reprint Kickstarters. Feels like they should go to something other than that platform. Maybe I'm just stuck on the idea that Kickstarter is an incubator and resisting the idea that it's morphing into a bog standard way to pre-order things.

Doesn't help that I heartily feel "Fuck Pre-orders".

Well its kind of bullshit. If you are selling enough to sell out you should be on your own feet by now. Basically kickstarter is subsidizing production costs for an established business which is bullshit. That being said I want a copy and will fork it over.

My guess is that it will cost more then it did the first time. The issues he had during the first run cost him a significant amount of money I am sure.

You confusing EH with AH? Eldritch is like 2 hrs tops and usually quicker. Or is your timeframe in the 1H max for a game territory?

Yea, IIRC when he did the entire breakdown on production cost it was around $280 per copy of actual cost to produce per copy.

Re: Kickstarter - And the problem with Poots is his business is designed around generating around 500-1000 single figures or figure sets at a time, so he's used to floating that sort of production cost getting something together. (around a few ounces of plastic/resin each - versus around 20 lbs of hard plastic with the core set)

I'm sure he could probably float 100-200 copies at a time, but the thing is with lower quantities production costs go up (of course) and of course people will get upset at missing out because of having to do a ton of shorter print runs that he can handle floating.

I can understand it being annoying though, I'm super glad I got my copy (during the $225 w/ free shipping timeframe I think? Whatever the last Black Friday deal was before copies started shipping) - it would sting like hell if I'd have been waiting all this time and be stuck doing it a slower delivery approach like Kickstarter.

I get a lot less mad at one guy who is trying to push a game out then I do at companies like CMON who are bragging how much money they make and how high their sales numbers are and then Kickstart Zombicide 425 the Zombining which you have to Kickstart because it comes with figures you can not get after the campaign is over.

I've never had it last less than three hours. Played maybe half a dozen times so far. Players ranging from 3-6. /shrug

Yea, exclusives to KS campaigns are bullshit for sure. Especially for CMON since they're putting out something every other month or so. With half of the stuff being good and the other half garbage. So it's impossible to be completely loyal to them unless you don't care about waste.

You using an app to handle most of the decks? And/or rough on the rules? Admittedly most of the plays I've done are 2-3 player range. With the Mythos Deck maxing at around 20 cards that would give you about 6 minutes per turn to fit into 2 hrs assuming you needed to whole time limit.

My groups aren't very Action Paralysis prone though, I could see one AP player compounding that alot however.

I play EH solo and games where I control only two investigators usually last 1.5-2 hours. I prefer playing with four though and those have ranged from 2-3.5 hours. It's the most fun with 3 or 4 investigators I think. Any more and the games do take too long.

It also would depend a lot on how much text you read on the cards. If you read all the text the games would last a lot longer. I'm not super into the RP element of the game so I don't spend the extra time reading everything.

Yea that's true MB - I do break things down into a more terse form... "Ok, there's a spiritual thing, stuff grabs you - roll OBSERVATION"

I spend too much on kickstarter, but most of it now is on Blood Bowl miniatures. I did support Massive Darkness, but I tend to avoid the expensive big box miniature games now. Except for the Ninja Turtles game because nostalgia got the better of me. I feel like I'm behind the times wanting them to release the games to brick-and-mortar stores...this might just be the new way to get games.

Picked up Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu - gf and I had never played Pandemic, but had read good things on this take of it. Definitely recommend it, quite enjoyable. First game we won, play took about 40 minutes total. Easy enough to pick up and get right going, and can definitely see how it can get challenging in a hurry. When we finished there were only two cultists left in the box and 8 cards left to draw, so we didn't win by a bunch.
