It was pretty interesting reading relatives/friends facebook friends yesterday when the missing indian guy was misidentified as a suspect, lotta racist posts. I don't think anyone even knows where the fuck Chechnya is now though.

Was on Ustream, about 10 minutes. Was just a single blurb "We have a suspect in a house, contained". Then they didn't mention it again. Rededdit posted it was the suspect, but I guess it wasn't.

This whole thing is so odd. Really, at one point I'm thinking they were normal kids. So who gets to them and convinces them,"ohh hey, you two should go blow up a bunch of civilians, what ya think?". And what would make them do it? What argument is so fucking persuasive they would basically commit suicide? Being American, I really don't understand how they got from there to today.

I've known several people from Chechnya/Caucasus and they were all degenerates. Wife beaters, racists, and just generally terrible people. I've been to several former Soviet countries and people in all of them had a universal loathing for people from Chechnya/Causasus regions. I'm not surprised they would do something like this (they've been plaguing Russia for a long time) but it surprises me they'd do in the USA. I'd like to find out why (again, other than them just being shitstains on the planet Earth).

Basically that's the gist of it. They have no relation, cultural or ethnic, to the Russians. The only reason they get lumped in is because they are geographically within Russian borders

The older brother might have been able to remember something about what was happening before the family came to the States, but he was too young to do anything at the time. The younger brother would have been 7, and possibly never lived in Chechnya. If this is an Islam thing, they picked it up while living in the US.

Nah Russia, has plenty of its own drunk gap toothed morons without having to go far. At least West Virginians at the very root share a common culture with other Americans.

The best equivalent I can conjure up for you is imagining that US actually annexed Iraq or Afghanistan and made it into a 51st state which has radically different culture than the rest of the country, dramatically different lifestyle, religion and a significant legacy of violence and terrorism. And then the insurgents from that 51st state relentlessly fought back with school bombings, train bombings, hostage takings, etc. in continental US.
