If my kids are supposed to be not fucking off in school and they are, then I don't give a shit about their feelings or merit or worth.

They are not supposed to be fucking off in school. Period. Trying to make excuses for them doing so is bullshit, plain and simple. They are not there to hang out with their friends. They are not there for comedy hour. They are not there to fuck off. They are there to learn, full stop. If they're doing things that are impeding their own education, or the education of others then they are in the wrong. Period. There's no other way to interpret that.

This was absolutely not the case in my schools. The boys who did the best were the most intelligent and were actually expected to be focused on their work. The boys who were having trouble in school were fucking meatheads and more concerned about playing sports, doing drugs and chasing girls during school than actually learning anything.

Your "reality" is bullshit derived from a feel-good system that thinks that everyone can just excel if given the proper environment. Wrong. No matter how you slice it, the bottom half of the population is going to be below average, that's just how math works. Meathead jocks are going to be meathead jocks. Intelligent boys succeed, just like they always have.

You're sitting here talking about them as the "bottom half of the population" but the bottom half of the population is what excels in public schools, because that is what public school is constructed around: Appealing to the lowest common denominator. Helping them pass at the expense of challenging the intelligent, top half of the population.

Most learning is done outside of school and home, in real world situations. Real world situations that simulate adult life and the challenges associated with them.

Breaking the spirit of a child is an atrocity. Who even begins to think that way about children they ostensibly love and care for? You love them, you want to nurture their authentic identity and true self, not break it.

And no shit, maybe get him involved in little league or something. A little bit of structure with a coach and kids his age and a setting where you can socialize, strive, and act out all at the same time. Might work might not. But it's better than a lifelong pill addiction and maybe worth a shot.

I'd say unless you know who I am, and have cameras up in my house, you don't say I'm physically abusing my kids and STFU.

Or you could do the tiniest bit of research into brain development in children, realize that he's a decade away from beginning to undergo identity formation, that the school environment is challenging for high energy intelligent independently minded children, and there's only a week or two left to this school year as well.

The best idea you've put forward here is getting him into a high activity sport to help him burn off energy. Do that and seek counseling for your own insecurities from a qualified PhD that preferably teaches at a university so they're experienced in a broad range of relationship family and identity psychology sciences for best results.

The problem is that his class would be earlier than his sister's. The wife takes her to class. She still works at this time. With the business, I never know where I'll be. Class starts at 5:30, some nights I'm out until 8:30.

We spoke to his teacher today, and she said that he's gone from not socializing, to over-socializing. He has a crew, and they are cutting up at reading time. She's going to keep them separate from now on. She said in general, he's doing better, but when they get together, they disrupt the class lesson.

She's made it clear that the school will start handing out punishments if we don't get this under control. So I better get ahead of this.
