Honestly, I never understood the "If you report getting raped to the police, they won't believe you" complaints. Well, no, they won't. They can't just outright take your word for it, they have to actually investigate. Would you want the police to just believe the accuser if you got accused of a crime?

This is the generation of "if I am personally offended, that content is offensive and should be silenced"

OF COURSE if a woman says it, she should be believed. If you take the stance that women are not to be believed by default without evidence, what are you, a misogynist?

I'll save you the time: you're a misogynist and probably a rapist. Don't mansplain to Mist why you're not.

Nothing is going to stop the attention seekers from filing false reports, so that kind of talk only works to discourage actual victims.

Absolutely it should be investigate. But that cop is basically saying, "Because there are false reports, I don't want to have to do my job."

No, he's saying the grossly skewed concept of rape on college campuses today is causing an abundance of girls to think they've been raped when they've really just regretted the consensual decisions they made

And there's your answer for your constant question of why real rape victims don't bother going to the police.
That they're stupid? just because the police guy told the truth and his experience leads him to believe doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue investigation, who cares what the guy says if you know what your rights are.

Thats funny, I don't remember him saying he wasn't going to investigate reports or that women shouldn't report rapes.

Do you? I wonder where you'd get this idea that thats what he's saying. Because it sounds like what he's saying is that a lot of women thing regret=rape. Which is true.

Is it that day of the week again where Mist feels upset that we don't like in a rape culture?

That's not what he said at all. He said most of these sexual assaults aren't rape. Nothing in there about not doing his job. The issue really is, and it is a CONSTANT issue, is people assuming that when the police investigate, and they find the victims story to be bullshit? That it is automatically the patriarchy ignoring rape. It couldn't possibly be young people make dumb choices but completely consensual choices that one party regretted later. That doesn't even cross people's minds because we are force fed this constant narrative of the male aggressor and female victim...For fuck sake you had people saying this shit when that video came out of a woman grabbing a guy's hair and shoving him against her snatch and moaning--who came out the next day and said she was forced, and people STILL felt like it was the police's fault for not taking her claims seriously.

That is the level of hysteria Mist. And your hyperbole, only adds to it.

You're willfully ignoring the second part of his statement. You have a cop flat out saying "rape doesn't happen here."

You're willfully ignoring the second part of his statement.
What am I ignoring?

"Most of these sexual assaults are women waking up the next morning with a guilt complex. That ain?t rape, that?s being stupid. When the dust settles, it was all consensual. It doesn?t happen here. It doesn?t show up here. They?re about as much a rape as a goat roping.?

I think you misread it Mist. Heisn'tsaying there is about as much rape as goat roping, he saidthose(Regret) cases are to a rape what goat roping is to a rape (Whatever the fuck that means.) But please, show me what in there illustrates he doesn't wish to do his job?

Mist is in a tough spot. She knows that right now some shitlord in this thread is pulling up all the cold, heartless, empathy-free facts about sexual assaults on ABAC students, and that it will support the pig-rapist-cop's contention that his campus is part of the most rape-free real estate across the entire breadth and width of human history.

To support her butthurt-campaign, she has to steer attention away from that inconvenient reality and more towards how CALLOUS and MEAN and INDIFFERENT that cop's statement was:

"bawww just imagine walking home bow-legged from Daquan's frat and heading straight to campus police and some cop tells you they can't investigate it as a rape just because Daquan's crew already has your consensual ass-to-mouth video uploaded to worldstarhiphop while you stopped by the CVS to chug back some plan B!"

Imagine a police chief staring at a body with a knife in its chest, saying "well, murders don't happen here, so thiscan'tbe a murder."

You'd laugh at that right? Sounds like the start of a Fargo episode, right? He's clearly prejudging future cases based on past events, and making a caricature of himself in the process.

Now imagine this police chief has a girl walk in, clearly roughed up and bruised, and him saying "well, rapes don't happen here, so thismustjust be consensual sex that got too rough."

When you're the victim of a crime it doesn't actually matter what past statistics say. Each case has to be judged on its own merits.

What do they say in finance again? Oh right, "past performance is not indicative of future results."

I'm sure if asked what his experience with corpses that have knives sticking out of their chests, that cop would've said "yeah, when that usually happens on campus we generally investigate it as a homicide".

But the opinion they solicited was for his observation about those past statistics about rape on his campus. And he gave as earnest an answer as he could: that when chicks like Emma Sulkowicz who changed their mind about their partner two strokes after willfully flipping over for some butt stuff, the subsequent investigations they conducted concluded that it doesn't fit the statutory definition of sexual assault.

I'm sure you didn't want him to lie, so really you just wanted him to be less DISMISSIVE amirite?

Maybe the dean of students and the university chancellor need to step down for failing to redefine aggressive necking and consensual butt-stuff as rape.
