Ghomeshi's accusers exchanged 5,000 messages before and after going to police

But during cross-examination, Ghomeshi's lawyer said that the woman ? the third complainant to accuse him of sexual assault ? exchanged 5,000 messages with "Trailer Park Boys" actress Lucy DeCoutere, who testified last week that the former radio host choked her and repeatedly slapped her while they were kissing in his bedroom.

The woman reported the alleged sexual assault to police in December 2014, but she said she didn't mention to investigators a sexual encounter she had with Ghomeshi in the days after the choking incident because it was consensual and she was embarrassed.

"Do you accept that you were being deliberately misleading?" asked Ghomeshi's lawyer, Marie Henein.

"Yes," the woman replied.

As it turns out all those who claim he's a rapist kept asking him after the "rape" to see him, date and/or to sleep with him again.
The guy does look like a psycho scumbag but the whole thing looks like women who got the shag and dump treatment; they were expecting more, so now they are looking for revenge. The number of outright lies in their police statements was pretty fucking ridiculous too.

Someone need to teach women to stop trying to get in a relationship with their rapist.

Feminist Canada; We don't have to 'prove' that #JianGhomeshi assaulted women, because we #BelieveWomen.

Mist danced around this but backed off a little when she saw the implication. But it is pretty obvious most feminists want to do away with due process all together. Once more this is the mind set that lead to lynchings, which were sometimes propagated due to false accusations of sexual misconduct against 'white women' by black men.

Dammit Lithose, you've been ruined for me. Ever since you posted earlier today that bookstores are obsolete, I find I can't move past it when reading other posts. I hate everything you stand for now.

Getting old sucks bro, don't hate me, I'm just the messenger. I still think Libraries are relevant though. (They need to become the new book store, and they are actually. My local library has been pretty stellar for a while.)

I still love going to the bookstore. It's my second favorite store to visit after the electronics store.

I like to use book stores to browse, then order an unsoiled copy that nobody has fondled with their manky hands online afterward (yes, I know I'm part of the problem... but I'm at least ordering from the same store).

But used book stores are still awesome. No lie, I was in Strand in Manhattan in November and found a first run of Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat... cool, right? Well when I opened it, I found a handwritten letter from Oliver Sacks himself on Oliver Sacks letterhead from 1988 folded up inside. It seems that whoever originally owned the book wrote him with some mild criticism and this was a response to the issues brought up. How fucking cool is that? Best $8 I've ever spent

I wish you hadn't made me check that, but here goes:

The message of that Tweet isn't "put accused rapists in jail on the word of the supposed victim alone". They're not trying to get rid of due process. This is not the same mind set that led to lynchings because it's not about villaining someone in order to destroy them. The message is "It can be very difficult to be a victim of sexual assault, especially when people are looking for reasons to dismiss your claim. But we believe you." That's it. From a legal standpoint this means nothing. Feminist Canada and Sacha's Blog, as far as I know, have taken zero steps to change rape law or influence the case at all. They're just offering unconditional emotional support to victims of sexual assault because they believe that helps counter the trauma and scrutiny such victims have to go through.

I imagine you believe that's entirely unfair to whoever's being accused of rape. Obviously, their goal isn't to be fair or impartial or even responsible. They just see a need for emotional support and they're trying to fill it. I'm not saying what they're doing is right or that they've gone about communicating it in the right way, but their goal isn't "make the bad guy pay, even if there's no proof", it's "offer sexual assault victims the support they need". It's more a case of supporting one's allies than attacking one's enemies (there is a distinction). I think your analysis failed to recognize that.

Sure glad I don't live in Canada where people are falling all over themselves to believe accusers over victims. If only we can stop the spread of that stupid here.

I think you've said you were from Canada (maybe not?) so I'm sure you've seen a lot of this on facebook as well, but it almost seems like people are upset that Gomeshi put up any kind of defense at all. They're upset that his lawyers questioned the accusers about their behaviour after the alleged assaults. But if Ghomeshi truly believes he's innocent, of course that's the kind of thing you'd expect them to bring up and rightfully so. But all I've seen online is the same old "you can't blame victims for their actions". You can't, but you can certainly get a sense about whether or not they believed they had be assaulted at the time. And if they're pursuing him after a first date with horny messages and handjobs, you can pretty safely assume they didn't believe they had been assaulted. But from all the hysteria online, you'd think they were being asked about the clothes they were wearing at the time. I've even heard many people complain the Ghomeshi didn't have to take the stand.Every accused person in every trial ever hasn't been forced to take the stand. It's as if some people wouldn't be happy short of him just saying "ya, I assaulted them".

Maybe all of that is separate from your point. It's more in response to the general sentiment I'm seeing. I even had a woman on a job last week tell me and the other guy we were working with that the whole trial made her "kind of hate all men" even though she didn't want to feel that way. Imagine if someone thought it would be okay to tell coworkers a trial made them "kind of hate all black people". It's pure hysteria

Went to Sam's club today and the DvD and Blu Ray section were gone. I was like wtf are they already phasing Blu Ray out?

Book section was still there.

Except they've been retweeting and making political statements to that effect for weeks, which is the reason people asked them to offer proof of their claims that Gomeshi is innocent, and then their response was the above sentiment.

Yeah, asking for evidence is something for and by 'old white men' (Of course it is hillarious that Gomeshi is neither old or white, but why the fuck would any of these idiots be concerned about facts when they are busy spitting out ideological sound bytes to signal they are part of the righteous group). The irony is that these principles are the foundation by which full suffrage (For the poor), feminism, racial equality and LBGT equal rights were slowly built. Everyone can trace equality back to the thing these idiots are attempting to destroy.

In any case, I wish you'd take 5 minutes to research something before responding.
