Ive unliked, and unfollowed everything that isnt an actual person I know IRL. Im not typically the type of person to sit on a social media platform and doom scroll like some people, though. It really is just a link nest, akin to a phonebook, for me. Girl I've been "trying" to get with has sworn off all social media BUT facebook and she's only 28. Could be worse I guess, and she could be on IG posting half naked pics. But Facebook, from everything Ive seen is predominantly filled with older people and people that just arent technically savvy. I could say I wont miss FB, or IG, or whatever if they close down.. and I said that about MySpace like forever ago. But I do miss little things about MySpace that were fun, at least for the time and age I was at that time. Like your Top Friends, or designing your own page etc.

I'd say I would quit Facebook if it starts flooding the platform with fake users. But as soon as I thought that.. I reminded myself that theres probably a billion fake accounts on the site already. So what exactly is going to change?

Theres something special about quitting your second social media site.

We all quit MySpace, of course. But we moved on immediately to Facebook so that didnt really give us the experience of quitting social media.

But when you quit your second one, all of a sudden MySpace comes back to you. You immediately realize how dumb it was, and how you havent missed it for a second, and you realize its all just fucking Myspace but faker and gayer.

And the allure of social media (if it ever had any for you) is immediately lost forever.

I deleted my Facebook on a whim, maybe 6 or 7 years ago. I thought it'd be a challenge to stick with it. Ended up being easy af. Literally never missed it. Ever.
Same, when it stopped being chronological order and your parents joined it, that was it's death for me.

They should have kept it to university signups and had a graduate version that privated all your drunk pictures and dumb comments.

I think it's in the myspace zone now and whatsapp/instagram replaced it.
