Glad to see the reviews are as good as expected. It's been looking like GOTY material since the moment they announced it.
Was really hoping the NZ trick would work on this one, but it's yet another worldwide release. At 3AM EDT, which sucks even more.

Been looking forward to this, but I'm not trusting the main libs reviews. Was going to get it on the PS5 Pro, but caved and got it on PC to how noisy I can my new rig to get, lol.
I see ACG changed thumbnail for his review from "So Many Fu**ing QTE's" to "Review". I take it he didn't like the action combat feature to turn based encounters, haha.

Yeah, his review has been getting roasted in the comments for complaining about the QTEs even though the combat is very similar to Yakuza 7 and 8, and for just generally being a weirdly edited mess with no actual rating at the end. The title does say "So Worth Getting" though, so I think it's safe to say it was supposed to get a Buy rating anyway.

What video card do you have just curious? I'm debating getting it for my PS5Pro as well... I do love me some couch games with great story. (PC is 3080 lol)

I bought a new system about 3 weeks ago; 5070ti. Game seems to run great (High+ settings on 30 series and up). I usually consider getting a game on the ps5 first since I have a nice OLED tv for it, or I did when I only had a 3060. haha.

Seems like it runs 30 fps on the Steam Deck. Its decent enough to play this type of game I guess.
If its too rough I'll just have to play on the PC.
Nice that it got good reviews, if you can trust these nowadays.
Edit: Saw a review comparing it to Lost Odyssey, which is funny because I remember that one being really good and coming out of nowhere. It was more Final Fantasy than any new releases.

Can't get my DS5 to work on the gamepass version. Apparently lots of people have the issue, even with third party Xbox controllers. DS4windows doesn't work either.
Apparently some have gotten dualsenseX to work, but the free version is no longer supported (and doesn't work) and I'm not paying for an app to get my controller to work.

I snagged it for the PS5 Pro. Just have to wait until after work now I've been looking forward to this one for a while, trusted reviewers seem to like it and I'm a sucker for a good story game.

About an hour or so into the game now, past the Prologue and into the real shit. The lighting engine is pure ASS though. No amount of messing with settings has resolved this type of shitty lighting:
The amount of Bloom is stupid, it just explodes everything. I've adjusted every setting remotely related to Lighting from Low to Epic, no change. I've adjusted Gamma, Contrast, and Brightness. Nothing has helped. Note, there is a character at the left edge of the image.

Someone compared the qte to yakuza. I just beat infinite wealth yesterday. Early on E33 def has more importance on parry/dodge. Yakuza, it was just a bonus, but i needed the parry to beat some early encounters. I even needed to redo a couple fights to get the timing (but i suck at soulsbournes)

This has been on my radar for so long and I was really looking forward to it, but I absolutely despise QTE in turn based RPGs (pick a god damn lane and be an action combat rpg if you want me to do more than chill, grind and enjoy the story) and defensively it's mandatory from the videos I've listened to no matter what difficulty you're on as you'll get 1 shot.

The QTE part is mainly for your own Skills to do more dmg, and you can enable Auto QTE for those. The defense stuff isn't a QTE, just reaction / timing as in any action game. So if dodging and parry are not your thing, you might have issues here.

Tried a bunch of my controllers after seeing the complaints on reddit. Was already using XB1 controller and it works fine. No issues with 8bitdo Pro 2 (BT) or PowerA Fusion Pro 3 (wired) either. DualSense and a Switch Pro controller weren't recognized at all.
The timing isn't particularly tight from what I've seen, but my problem so far is knowing whether I'm supposed to dodge or parry. It was about 4AM when I was messing with it though, so there's a pretty strong chance I just missed something.
The game definitely needs a patch for PC to address performance and weird stuff like that lighting and the transparency issues that I've seen. Having support for XeSS but not FSR is insane too. I guess Optiscaler will work with it to force FSR3 support, but I just said fuck it, I'd rather play the game on my TV anyway.

Yeah I'm aware there is the auto setting for attacks which is why I brought up the defensive portion. It just gets stale as fuck having to do it every fight in a turn based game.

The amount of bloom, or explody light is less on PS5 Pro, but even there it is a lot more than I prefer. The game says its Pro Enhanced, but there is no way to really see, imo. The Quality mode is 30fps, and Perf is 60 but with so much light/bloom it kinda washes colors out even on an OLED.

FF8 used to have something with Squall - if you pressed a button at the right time during the attack animation, his gun blade did bonus damage during attacks
