Dogma was his last good movie. Clerks 2 was nowhere near as funny as Clerks.

Did people forget Kevin Smith's involvement in the new He-Man cartoon?

This will be awful.

No, because we never bothered to watch it or care about it.

Smith is a paid shill, ok, thats how far down he's fallen. he had nothing to do with the production of He-Man. i think he was as surprised as everyone else they killed off He-man to make Tela the new He-maam. but since he claimed he did have something to do with it he tried to downplay the shit story and attacked youtubers who got the leaked script. this movie is its own thing. nobody wrote it for him. if it sucks, then it sucks because of him. considering the last 3 Smith productions. thats not a good sign. you cant be woke and funny. you're one or the other.

Clerks 2 was the last really good Kevin Smith movie. Zach and Miri make a porno was the last decent one.
I haven't seen this, but did you ever see Red State? Completely different type of Kevin Smith movie, and I really liked it. It's a thriller movie that's his take on the Westborough Baptist Church.

Red State was great, it's too bad they didn't have the money to go with the intended ending (there's animated video on YT describing it).

Also lol at this coming out already. This thread is the only mention if its existence I've seen or heard.

I don't think I've watched anything by Kevin Smith since Zach and Miri; he has some cool insider stuff during his early writing career but I think he's indulged his not-so-creative side a bit too much since then. Lots of self-indulgent deals (Yoga Hosiers - who the hell is even trying to watch that?) and I haven't seen any of the Jay and Silent Bob shit. I'd rank Clerks as one of my favorite movies of all time, but the dropoff was -real- hard after.

At least the Clerks movies have been Smiths best movies. This seems more like an actual end to the universe finally.
I disagree. Red State was fucking great... and it had John Goodman. hehe
Otherwise, I'm pretty done with Smith the Cuck. He fucked up He-Man.

I was partial to Mall Rats (I grew up in an era where that was a thing we did as teens) and Dogma. Chasing Amy is solid, but its not aged well. Red State is arguably his best movie. Everything else he has done has not aged well, mostly due to being so self indulgent.

This is out on the usual spots. It was meh. Better than any of his last handful of movies. It was pretty annoying that every line was based on his life and you have heard him tell these stories a million times on his podcast. Veronica having dark hair at the beginning of the movie and then blonde at the end was weird.

Kevin Smith went from a fat nerdy hero to a leftist woke zero.

I used to binge Smith's earlier podcasts where he would swap funny stories with his friends from NJ or talk shit about Hollywood with Mosier. I was a fan of Clerks, Dogma and even the first Jay & Silent Bob was good old fashioned stoner fun.

However the fanboy relationship ended around the time he went off the deep end with being such a beta cuck to his wife, constantly apologizing for shit on his podcast and just being an all around blubbering whiny bitch.

All of which could have been forgiven had he produced something of value and wasn't just constantly shilling for shekels.

Kevin Smith is the epitome of the Hollywood sellout.

Fuck him.

thats pretty much most of our assessments. personally, i think he lost his chops when he got hooked on weed and just started believing his dumb new shit was funny because he and his stoner friends laughed at it. meanwhile stoners will laugh until they cry if a dog looks at them in a weird way. i have a lot of stoner friends and they laugh and laugh at the dumbest shit. Smith also got incredibly lazy. like wtf. Dogma was such an ambitious movie. it looked like he went all out to create something with meaning. then you get Yoga Hosers. christ what an imbecille.

As an occasional pot smoker I’m inclined to say boo to you on pot being his downfall, but…

He’s gone on record multiple times stating it was Seth Rogan (another huge disappointment) that introduced him to the pothead lifestyle, so there is a connection I’ll give you that.
