Former OU quarterback Justin Fuente. My hope is that he proves himself to be very capable in the Power 5 and OU comes knocking once Stoops calls it quits.
I am not really excited about this hire for VT. He has only had two(?), semi decent seasons since he started in Memphis, and it's been in the ruins of the Big East. The "american" can't really compare to even the ACC.

Fuente got nervous that his stud QB would go pro and he'd be back to be irrelevant at Memphis. He really struck while the iron is hot. I'll see what he can do with superior talent and recruiting at Va Tech but I'm not overly high on the dude.

I'm late here and didn't watch the game but why did Texas think TT was V forming with 2:45 left in the game with 5 TOs on the board?

Strong must have been on the sideslines like "Finally someone dumber than I am at this game! Idiot is kneeling it with 3 minutes!"
I don't think it was a "fake" kneel. Just a "hide-our-tiny-player" play that required everyone be in super tight. Oregon state did the same thing against USCwest years back.

I have no idea what USC has been doing since Pete Carrol left.
Trying to hire Pete Carroll assistants. That didn't work but instead of going for a proven coach we hire a nobody most likely as Haden is about to retire in the near future and didn't want to do anything risky.

So it's looking like Ohio State is projected to play Stanford in the Rose Bowl. That seems like it would be a pretty boring matchup. They should send Iowa or Michigan State there to really up the snorefest. I'd prefer Ohio State to play Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. I think it'd be much more entertaining. Plus there would be the added bonus of Lurkingdurk's tears.

Of course it would just be amazing if mayhem happens and the Buckeyes sneak back into the playoffs.

I can dream, right?

Missouri DC Barry Odom is going to be Memphis's next head coach. A lot of MU fans wanted him as our coach, but I have a feeling our new AD wants to hire his own guy, not do an internal hire. (Our new AD is from Houston, he hired Tom Herman there last year)

The real kicker will be whether we can keep our D-line coach Craig Kuligowski(Coach Kul). He's the key to our defensive line success over the past decade, turning 2 & 3 star recruits into high NFL draft picks. He would have definitely stayed with a promotion to D-coordinator(he turned down a D-coordinator job offer at Illinois last year) if Odom had stayed here as Head Coach, but bringing in someone totally new to the program, that guy will probably want to bring his own coordinators with him. We could very well end up with an entire flushing of our coaching staff, which would suck. We have some REALLY good coaches on the defensive side of the ball. All the Offensive coaches can go to hell though, I'll be glad to see them all gone, lol.

Whats funny is the OSU fans here are pure salt that just because they have 1 loss they won't make the playoffs were the "overrated" SEC (seriously you'll hear this 100 times a day in Ohio) will put a team in with a loss. Apparently they forget when and where you lose your match actually matters. Just like how OSU was the benefit last year of dropping a fairly meaningless game to VaTech and still making the playoffs.

It usually is a matter of when you lose. Nobody fucking remembers Bamas loss because it was a fluke play in like week 3.

Also I finally sat down and watched most of an Alabama game this weekend. Anyone else think their tailback has shades of Trent Richardson? He was a tough runner who was impossible to take down but it seemed like dude had less than zero vision. He kept bumping into his own blockers but since it was Bama and their O-line kept opening mile wide holes he managed to get through.
