Conference politics and realignment has almost totally ruined college athletics for me. I basically don't watch anything outside of my school any more. Shit sucks.

Absolutely zero chance Nebraska, and more importantly Tom Osborne lets Texas anywhere near the Big 10. That ship has long since sailed. My ideal scenario, as a lowly Okie State guy is jump ship with OU to the SEC and leave Texas schools behind, because fuck Baylor. That won't ever happen though, because Boren is an absolute bitch.

Here is my ideal scenario if the 2 Oklahoma schools join the SEC. You'd have a 16-team conference, broken down into 4 4-team pods
North:
Missouri
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
West:
LSU
A&M
Ole Miss
Mississippi St
East:
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
South:
Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Conference goes to a 9-game schedule. You play the other 3 schools in your division every year, and then you play 6 of the remaining 12 every year, doing home & away for 2 years and then you play the other 6 for two years.
Basically, every team would play every other team home & away every 4 years. and those division lineups keep most of the biggest rivalries together for yearly games. Florida/Georgia, Alabama/Auburn, Alabama/Tennessee, the Mississippi schools, the Oklahoma schools, etc.
Winner of each divison participates in a 2-game, 4-team playoff to crown the champ. Or alternately, 4 teams play to narrow to 2, and then those 2 proceed on to the CFB playoff(if the playoff is expanded to 8 or 16 teams down the road)
That's my dream scenario

My old boss played football at Arkansas back in the day and he was bringing something similar up years ago - proximity would be great and we could break away from Texas schools. Will never happen though, and Okie State has no power to do anything other than what OU does basically so we'd just be a long for the ride.

Exactly.
You watch OU because we are important to college football and you have an opinion on us, even when we lose.
I watch WVU when they play OU and maybe when they play a bowl game because they are irrelevant in all but a few years when they rise up from above their typical mediocrity.
It is telling that your only avenue for attack is to use Texas, a team that has a winning record against OU but not the same accomplishments.

Maybe, I'm talking historically and currently, even though OU is down. Yes the Big XII isn't fantastic but it still runs through OU. I'm under no illusions of our standing next to Alabama and Ohio State, and to a lesser degree Clemson over the last few years, but otherwise we're competitive nationally in all but a few years. That had been the case going on 50 years with a good part of the 90s being the only exception.

So yea, maybe in B12 country? I've lived in SEC/ACC country for the last 15 years and nobody talks about OU or gives a shit about you here. The B12 is pretty much shit on everywhere down here, and SEC fans I guess I can understand somewhat given how much they have won..... but the ACC has been horrible.I dont really get where they have any reason to talk shit but ACC fans are fair weather morons down here. I actually had a guy tell me the ACC was good because Miami won championships....didnt know Miami was in the Big East then.
As far as WVU, we were near the top of the list with teams like TCU who have overachieved relative to our recruiting level. So yea you're not hurting my feelings as I dont have high expectations coming from a tiny ass state with no in-state talent pool to recruit from. Even this year I dont see us finishing great and am waiting for it to come crashing down, so Im just enjoying the ride.

No reason WVU can't win the Big 12 this season - Nobody looks good in my opinion. Baylor is okay, TCU is decent, Okie State is alright, OU could be good, but the defense can't play consistently enough to win out, Texas stinks again, ISU/KU/KSU are all poor to downright terrible depending on the week and TTU is full of taco tossers. Wouldn't actually mind Dana winning the conference, I like the guy. The game at Okie State halloween weekend should be great - Homecoming, Halloween, and a see of beautiful bright orange and black. I'll be there!
