www.Joinme.comThis will definitely be handy for fixing the computers of inept relatives. Google Hangouts now has a remote desktop control feature.

I do. I'll try that.Go into power options and set hdds to never turn off. Do you hear the drive spin up when you access it? Could also be head-parking if you don't.
95% is an egregiously bad estimate, Asus chargers are fucking garbage. I'd say it's more 60/40 with this specific issue. Easy trouble shooting process: Take laptop with you to a bestbuy or something, get generic charger, test charging, if it works normally it was your charger, if it doesn't work normally, just return the charger for a full refund pick up your computer and smash it in to the ground because you're a moron for buying Asus. What model laptop? My asus G73 has a similar issue.
95% of the time that issue isn't the charger but rather the DC jack on your laptop. A few issues happen over time. On the inside of the jack (right where you plug it in) if you had put uneven pressure on the cable then the metal arms that connect to the jack move out and allow some free movement of the cable end inside there causing a very loose connection. That's one reason you'll find it charge at certain angles and with certain pressures. Another issue could be the DC jack having cold or broken solder joints to the board.
In either case it would probably require a replacement of the jack. My laptop needs this, i've just been lazy. They only run for a few bucks, but if you aren't comfortable with soldering it could cost upwards of $120.
It came in a retail package, but I suppose it's not impossible they used a cheap method to make the DVD? There's no obvious scratches that I can see.Is the DVD a copy/burned DVD? Copies can always be iffy. I've had multiple different CD/DVD drives throughout the years that have different sensitivities to burned disks, or even scratched disks for that matter. Some read anything like a champ, some have shittier lasers I guess and won't hardly pick up anything unless it's flawless. Especially if it's a re-writable disk, those are a bitch to read for some CD/DVD players for whatever reason.
Are both the machines the same OS? Specifically have you got Vista on the laptop? Have you tested other DVDs in your laptop to make sure it's not the drive? It came in a retail package, but I suppose it's not impossible they used a cheap method to make the DVD? Thats a shame, i was thinking of selling my ivybridge zenbook prime and getting into a haswell alienware... But if that's what I have to look forward to ill just keep the zen.My Alienware m17x has been a pain in my ass since day one. BSODs out the ass - BUGCODE USB_DRIVER and INTERNAL CLOCK INTERVALs happen daily. I also get system hang ups about 5 times a day where the shit just crashes and the only thing I get to see is Kernal Power event 41. Oh and if I close my laptop lid the system hangs too. I've changed all my settings and rebooted the system with a fresh windows 7 minus all the gay dell shit. Not really sure what to do at this point.
Have you updated the drivers? Sounds like a BIOS issue. My Alienware m17x has been a pain in my ass since day one. BSODs out the ass - BUGCODE USB_DRIVER and INTERNAL CLOCK INTERVALs happen daily.
