Had a sugar ant colony decide to nest in a ssd overnight. Suggestions on how to prevent this from occuring again?

Make it a family affair. How many ants did you kill today, dad?

Im still wondering how - sounds like you need sticky traps.
Still not sure how. Picked up some
to eliminate inside and outside paths but it bothers me that they managed to infest the ssd. Especially since it's active.

Jizz on your computer less? If they don't have anything to eat they won't go there.

I'm having a weird issue. When I'm watching any video (twitch, youtube, etc) on my laptop the video flickers every once in a while. It's not actually the screen, it's part of the video. It's probably usually every 10 seconds or so there will be flash of black screen in the video. This is a very recent problem, it could be windows update or driver related? It's pretty frustrating, I don't really know what the actual problem is. Any suggestions?

Maybe a browser issue? Im assuming that is where you are watching twitch, youtube and whatnot. I'd at least start there if it's not happening outside the browser

I swear I had tried that, but I guess not. Using Brave I get the flicker but in Firefox I don't. Fuck

This appears to have fixed it, and could explain why it was fine in Firefox (since I had it turned off there from in the past lol)

Shut down my computer and UPS. I come back and computer doesn't turn on when I push button. I take case off and press switch PSU to off. Then I switch PSU to on. The fans inside the case briefly turn on, like .25sec. The case power button continues to do nothing.

Over the past two weeks I have been having to do these steps, but the computer entirely did turn on. Now it's not even doing that.

Is this a PSU issue or a motherboard issue?

try clearing your capacitors, i believe you do it by unplugging from wall and holding down power for 30s (thats why you sometimes got it to work this way, sometimes not).

Is there a way to tone down windows defender? I bought Mass Effect Legendary and it wouldn’t let me run it. Did some research and various fixes and it was as Windows Defender blocking the game from running. I have no clue why it would do it in the first place. It’s not a pirated version and I bought it on Steam. I had to allow it to run on Windows Defender but it was initially a pain in the ass. I don’t want to completely disable it but I don’t want it not block programs or games that are legit.

Assuming Windows 10. Windows Security > Virus and threat protection > Manage settings > Exclusions. Add the exe for the game and that should allow it. Since ME:LE is a launcher for 3 games, you will likely have to add the exe for each game individually.

So my Mother has an oldish laptop (has an Nvidia gfx card) that she was given and uses as her "Facebook machine". All she does and uses it for are Thunderbird for e-mail and Chrome for the web (mostly Facebook, and the odd news site). Recently I've heard the fans on her system be constantly dialled to the proverbial 11. I've checked Task Manager and it's always Chrome sperging out. This is with maybe 6-7 Facebook tabs open. That's it. Now I have installed a few extensions such as ublock origin, just these standard safety things. I also ran a full virus check and Microsoft's malware search and they didn't find shit. It usually fixes it to close some of the Facebook tabs, but still, this shouldn't be happening. Any ideas on what causes it, or how to find out?
