I'm trying to set up couchpotato for my parents using Teamviewer. Everything is working fine except the torrents when they are added will not automatically start and add to the Utorrent client. I've tried everything I can think of. Enabling Webui, making sure the don't start on download option is unchecked, ports and everything are correct, pointing Utorrent to the torrent folder and telling it to automatically start anything that is there. It's running through firefox. Any suggestions?

You mean they do not show up at all in utorrent or that they do show but do not start downloading (torrent is stopped / paused) ?

The torrent file downloads to the torrent folder I created buy doesn't add to the Utorrent client and start downloading. I have to manually click on it for it to start. I'ce double checked all the options pointing couchpotato and Utorrent to that folder and no dice.

This will sound dumb, but I just went through this with a friend, and I'm assuming you've closed and restarted uTorrent since making these changes? I'm sure you have, but from a fresh install on my friend's machine it just wouldn't load from that directory no matter what I did...until I shut it down completely and restarted it. Not just "shut down which is actually minimizing" either.

Like I said, you probably did that, but just checking. Otherwise I've got nothing.

I've killed the process any restarted the machine and everything. I've run out of google fu and a bit lost. My machine was set up by a friend using rtorrent and ubuntu so I cant even use that to compare to. Thanks anyway.

Some Indian dude just called me and told me he was from "Windows" and that my computer has malware on it. He wanted me to turn on my computer.

I started asking him questions and eventually he started muttering "you motherfucker you" over and over.

I told him "I'm better at computers than you". Then he hung up.

Whats up with that.

Here's a question; why does my wireless network randomly slow down sometimes?

I know that's a really broad question, but what sort of things should I be looking for? It's secured and there don't seem to be any devices I don't recognize connected to it (looking at the router's control panel), but occasionally it'll slow down to where playing movies through my Chromecast (which doesn't go outside the network) or watching Netflix (which does) is basically impossible.

What are some starting points of things to check?

Does it mainly correspond with peak usage times, like 7-11pm in your local timezone? It could be completely out of your control, and just your ISP getting shitty when usage spikes up.

Duppin I don't want to state the obvious but have you upgraded to the block letter 5150 router yet?

Die in a fire, Noodle!

It doesn't really, joeboo, plus it affects things that don't even leave my network like the Chromecast.

Chromecast does leave your network though, when you cast a youtube video or Netflix movie, the Chromecast itself streams the movie directly from the site of origin, not through your laptop/tablet. That's why you can then keep on using your laptop/tablet to do other stuff while the Chromecast streams its video.

Thats also why the Chromecast doesn't do real well with casting random web pages to it, because at that point you are double-dipping on bandwidth, the site is streaming to your laptop, then your laptop is re-streaming it to the Chromecast, all on a shared network. The individual apps like Hulu and Netflix just pull their own stream directly, once you give them the command of what to play.

I think about the only app that the Chromecast would just stay within your own home network would probably be Plex.

Check how congested wireless channels are in your area during peak time. If everyone is on channel 11 for example it'll slow things down, especially when everyone gets home.

Pick whichever channel has the lowest amount of broadcast points.

Yeah Chromecast is all about having a dedicated app for the service you want to use. If you do, it is GREAT. If not, it's pretty sketchy.

I'm really hoping MLB.tv implements Chromecast. I dropped my cable TV and I'd love to be able to cast baseball games to my TV.

PC decided to take a shit last night, I copied and pasted this from my post over at ROG so excuse the format. My guess is the mobo fried my ram and possibly my cpu but I have no way of checking that, anyone have any thoughts?

Maximus V Gene stopped working.
Started getting BSOD's yesterday when playing games. Did some research and saw that it was due to overclocking, I had initially ran the auto-overclocking when I first got the board in Dec 2012 and had not touched it since. I decided to go into the BIOS and reset to defaults to see if this would remedy the issue, I reset to defaults and when I restarted none of my USB ports work and I get no video signal.

I've been searching the forums for 4-5 hours trying to find a solution but everything I have tried has been fruitless. I'm getting the Qcode of 98.

What I have tried.

flashed BIOS to newest rev.
Cleared CMOS, with mouse/kb connected and without.
Pulled Battery
Pulled Memory and tried one stick at a time(it does look like one stick is now bad and I hope the mobo didn't decide to fry everything. (the bad stick makes the boot up process stop several times, turn off and turn back on again.)
Checked all power cables

OCZ Vertex 128GB (Plus 2 1tb drives currently disconnected while troubleshooting)
Siig IC-510111-S2 Soundwave

Keep in mind this system has run flawlessly since Dec 2012 until last night. Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Popped the ram and video card into my old bitcoin rig and it's working fine, currently running memtest and it's on 3 passes with no errors. I'm betting the motherboard went to shit, I just hope it didn't take the CPU with it.
