Bud, millions of people lost their jobs last week. Hospitals don't have enough PPE to be able to give proper care. This is a very real issue. The DPA is necessary, we are going to run out of supplies and be unable to address this disease. Individual citizens are being called upon to stay in their homes, and sacrifice their incomes and financial stability to help stem infection rates.

But people like you would rather protect corporate interests than protect the citizens of this country. No matter the cost.

No.
Protect corporate interests? What corporate interests? California, NY, PA and Illinois have shut down their economies. Our national economy is shutting down. You think this shit is trivial? Our corporations and small businesses are our citizens and vice versa. Fucking people who somehow thing the economy is somehow disconnected from our lives. Fuck we have people who can't afford to eat. Nationalize the food industry. We have homeless. Nationalize the real estate industry. Courts have been shutdown. Governors are shredding the 14th and 1st amendments with no court to stop them. But hey, you keep screaming from your soapbox about those evil corporations.

Listen to this Ivory Tower horse shit. This is not a normal situation. The DPA isn't going to be invoked forever and ever and never get shut down. We are in an emergency. All of us are being asked to make sacrifices, but private corporations are still allowed to operate normally and make no concessions? All of the burden falls to us?

Nobody is asking these companies to make this shit for free forever (or even now, just take an IOU for a bit). Cuomo is asking to nationalize those companies temporarily with the DPA so we can stop this sooner and get back to work sooner. Maybe he should have been careful with that word "nationalize" so he wouldn't offend your delicate sensibilities.

Funny listening to you use the term ivory tower. Its almost like you actually believe its OK to piss on the Constitution. You probably also believe that governments will gladly give back freedoms they take from us. It is never. Never. Ok to violate the Constitution. That end can never justify the means.

Pissing on the constitution when it comes to the freedoms and protections of private citizens? A-okay
Pissing on the constitution when it comes to private corporations? NOT IN MY AMERICA

Got it.

And none of this is pissing on the constitution. This situation right here? This is what the Defense Production Act was created for.

Then do as we did in WW2. Companies compete for juicy government contracts just like they do today on a smaller scale. Nationalization inherently means going into 3M headquarters and saying, "all your shit is US property now."

I wouldn't trust a temporarily fine print for a single second.

To be fair here this is all total horseshit. But if we are overstepping bounds in one area might as well in another I guess. Let's get this civil war fuse lit.

Fucking-a...Politico: 3M Commandeered to Produce Ivanka Brand Medical Supplies

@ Sanrith if it makes you feel any better the Politico article you posted yesterday is most likely alarmist and nothing more..the "terrifying" quote is from the Director of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers . It's practical stuff so the courts can function at all during emergency.

Agreed, next time post your inflammatory opinion and accompanying tweet in the right thread to begin with.

In the emergency department, it's the patients and family members that are stealing BOXES of surgical masks. We used to have boxes out outside of each patient room (64 bed ER) and now we no longer do this.

And the Left thinks diversity is our strength, when reality it's every man for himself in a disaster.

I think they have much fewer cases. The amount of people on the road at 6-7am is not going to drop a whole lot I imagine, at least early on with all the plant workers till they get it figured out what is going down. From the list it looks like what we are supposed to be doing already except no work for non essentials.
