Yeah, this game is reminding me of another Star Citizen, but without the truckloads of revenue. Essentially, promising just about every feature under the sun.wow, that's a lot of focus on non-PVP and non combat related features.
I don't think so. It seems like they are just polishing their world building tools and giving them to their playerbase. Even if that is a lot of focus, it needs to be there because this is where they probably end up making their money from a cashshop.wow, that's a lot of focus on non-PVP and non combat related features.
Its a quick cash cow, keeps those people who want the casual my city building and gives you a market for all your pvp winnings.I don't think so. This is a retarded post in case anyone was curious what that looked like.If anyone thinks that they will put more time into pvp then ek then you are being delusional. Ek is the cash cow. It's microtransaction heaven for them. The pvp game is the game they want to make but better graphics minecraft is where the money is.
I've asked it during both my interviews with Todd. The EK is a very small part of the game. 90% of the focus, if not more, is on the campaign. You're just seeing a lot of detail with the EK right now because it's probably the most fleshed out part of their game right now. They do not have their combat system ready to go, they don't have their campaign rules set right now. They don't have a lot of stuff done right now. The EK is probably fleshed out conceptually the most which is why they can spill the beans.I hope what he said is true about this being a tool used by the world builders to build the campaigns. At least then I know they're spending resources building something campaign related and also they're ditching the idea that the whole thing is randomly generated.
Which makes sense becuse they're using this EK tool to build campaigns.I've asked it during both my interviews with Todd. It's also the easiest and less risky part of the design. You're just seeing a lot of detail with the EK right now because it's probably the most fleshed out part of their game right now.
I'm not sure about other games, but D3 definitely uses something similar to what you described for their procedural generation (tilesets that snap together like a jigsaw puzzle).I have a feeling "procedural" in this sense means that Artcraft designs all the art assets to go anywhere but uses the EK tile mechanism to make edits to their random map so the balance isn't total shit. Just an idea though.
Actually not really. The engine they are using is voxel based and if they are using the voxel farm engine a lot of that building/upgrading stuff is part of that engine. Its what you use to build the campaign worlds and so it takes little extra effort to allow those tools for player use in their personal sand box areas. Something like that in a game like wow would be a huge addition but using the voxel farm engine it is just part of how the engine is designed to function.wow, that's a lot of focus on non-PVP and non combat related features.
