My sons, 8 & 10, are amazing and they drive me insane at the same time. Being a dad is the best job in the world.

My youngest LOVES football. He likes to play it outside, inside and on madden. He is small for his age so he is already figuring out he has to work his ass off. He will watch YouTube videos of great players and tell me about them.

My oldest can run all day and is great at any sport he tries. He likes shooter games and loves Pokemon. He can read and do math better than most adults.

Fishing? Both love it. I never realized as a dad how hard it would be to teach two little guys to fish. I spend my time baiting hooks, fixing lures, fixing reels, taking fish off hooks and un-snagging lures. But I would not trade our time fishing for anything.

My son is approaching 16 months. He's a lady's man for sure.

Right now his favorite thing to do is look at us, smile, then go grab something he knows he's not supposed to. He gets disciplined and immediately does it again. Also he laughs hysterically when you need to wipe his balls.

He still hasn't started speaking yet so doctor is becoming concerned. He knows what we're saying and does things if we ask him to, just not interested in talking.

The only word he'll repeat is "Baby" but he says it like "BweeBwee"

otherwise he's thef ucking man and I love being a father.

My daughter is starting High School in a few days and I'm seriously feeling anxious. I love spending time with my kids and it's awesome watching them grow up but for an over protective worrier it makes me nauseous. I was going to post pic of my kids but not sure that is wise, being out hiking on a mountain with my kids is pretty much the height of happiness for me, I really don't want them to leave :(

speaking of daughter issues, as I type this my daughter is having those color highlights put in her hair. She begged me for this and I really don't know what I feel about it but I like her to be happy and it seems innocent enough but I wonder if I just opened pandora's box

During the teenage years everyone wants to set themselves apart - but really what they do is put themselves into little cliques of people doing the exact same thing.

I wouldn't worry, but I only have a 1 year old so the most I worry about is him stealing toys from other kids.

Daughter 1 is 15, it's terrible. Mood swings, sleeps all day, yells all the time, just don't anger them and hope you prepared them up to that point. They are not going to appreciate of value anything you do or say until they turn 26-35 and get past the crazy.

We have a 2.5 year old too and she is much more manageable.

16 months is nothing to worry about noodle, especially for a boy. it's more about their behavior; can they understand you and communicate without words enough to get what they want. sounds like your guy is fine there. i've seen boys go from not talking to speaking full sentences in a month around the age of two. trust your gut. you've probably already done it but if you have decent insurance you can get his hearing checked out for free.

i have three daughters, 4 1/2 and two twins about to turn one. holy shit do twins kick your ass. finding out there were two of them was the most surreal moment of my life. my wife was like, 'i feel really sick this time' and the obgyn says 'maybe it's twins' and he looks and it was. spent a hellish month in the nicu which is normal for identicals but they're great now. with the first one i was so careful about everything, home made baby food, taking her temperature everytime she felt warm, worring about a cough all night... now i just try to keep them in a clean diaper and throw the first thing i see at them to eat. my 4 year old gives them everything she eats anyway so there's not much i can do.

i will echo that being a dad is the best thing i've ever done. my daughter was all about the fucking disney princess books for like 2 years and some boys were playing star wars at school so she asked me for a star wars book and i fucking ran to barnes and nobles and found this cool 5 minute star wars stories book and she loves it. now i show her short, nice scenes from the movies for a treat. the other day i showed her obi-wan giving luke anakin's light saber and i watched her when he turned it on. when she saw that thing for the first time her eyes were like dishes. she's going through an obsessed with death stage at the moment which is crazy because i did the same thing when i was a kid. i can't even count how many times a day i answer her questions with 'i don't know'.

i also fear for when they are older, especially reading all that shit about what it's like to be a kid these days with the bullying and social media. i'm just sort of counting on the fact that if i can instill some values and confidence in them it'll see them through. i guess and just be there for them.

Well hearing is a big concern because I have about 60% hearing in one ear due to a multitude of surgeries when i was young (i want to say 6)

To be honest I'm not that worried but at 18 months if he isn't talking we are going to be referred to a specialist. I'd rather go to a specialist and find out absolutely nothing is wrong than not go and issues pop up later.

My parents told me I didn't speak until I was 3 years old, no goo goo gaa gaa or nothing.
I'm a bit of a retard at times but I don't think that had anything to do with it haha.

I have 2 boys, youngest is just over 1 and the oldest is coming up to 3.... BEST TOYS EVER!!!!!
I do think "you little shit" sometimes but I love them to bits...

just went to High School orientation with my daughter and the school I graduated from, kind of a surreal experience. Thought never entered my mind that someday I'd be walking those halls with my own daughter as a student. God i hope she is a better student than me.

They have to be better than I was then, sheesh. I graduated with a low GPA, but still got that paper. Now they have senior projects and all this other stuff, does not appear skating through is a thing anymore.

Don't be fooled, you can still skate through due to "no child left behind"

You can even skate through college for most majors

I got 2 daughters ... I fear my coming days.

Mine is 9 and I hear you. With all the social media and everything else going on, it's going to be a tricky balance to let her have freedom while at the same time threatening potential boyfriends with death if they treat her bad.
