His wife fucked him while Kingpin was MIA. She fessed up and made Fisk promise not to kill him - so he kept his promise, but she said nothing about anything else so Fisk went by that and imprisoned the dude. Vanessa then saw he kept his promise in not killing him and liked that, so she killed Adam to reciprocate

i loved the episode, its wild to see Matt be so self destructive. He literally got himself shot because he basically helped free Deadshot. Its neat to see Matt struggle with putting his gf in danger by revealing his identity, but really he's putting her in way more danger by NOT telling her. The old "a superhero has to be alone, because everyone he loves will be in insane danger" trope of comic books.

its not exactly the formula of the OG Netflix Daredevil, and there is a lot that doesn't work well like the new characters who are weak replacements for Foggy (Cherry) or Karen (new hot italian gf) but all the Kingpin shit is awesome, Kingpin in a white suit is bonerific



also it looks like for the finale (minor who is showing up spoilers) Punisher and Karen are in the finale

It's mostly unwatchable.

Watched all eight episodes in two evenings, what a shitshow. While I approve of the performances for the most part, the whole story is a complete mess, it's so disjointed it feels like the showrunner was told they'd have 20 episodes and then woops you only get 8 sorry so they panicked.

I'm not a Daredevil expert (only saw the Affleck movie and this series here) but is the comic always so anti-police? I mean, I understand at some point a vigilante has to not really trust in the police/justice system since they want to take matters in their own hands, but man, this show doesn't even make Murdock LOOK like a hero... a little girl is telling him she hates all policemen because they're all abusive assholes and he's like "Yeah you're right"... what kind of values is that hero passing towards youth? I'm not asking for the show to be all about police positivity because of course there's a bunch of asshole cops out there, but a HERO should be teaching kids that there's bad people and good people in all areas of life, including cops, and that while some may be rotten, others are heroes themselves (especially since Murdock is fucking working with a retired cop and we see some legitimate decent cops in the show). Also crazy to hear a lawyer/hero agreeing with the poor black dude who has been stealing and robbing for years and has 25 convictions and never even makes his legal appointments, because he should be allowed to steal popcorn because he's poor and it tastes good.

The whole show stinks of garbage woke antifa shit like it was made several years ago, doesn't really align with Disney's seeming current backing off of ultra-woke stuff. Would definitely not recommend this show, there's like 10 minutes of decent action scenes/fights in the whole season, and you see "Daredevil" literally maybe 5 minutes total.

Not much hope for the finale, for sure.

Part of the reason it feels disjointed is the show was originally shot one way (effectively a procedural style from how I understand it), then they decided to redo it but not completely. So some of the episodes were completely new or had added scenes to fit the newer vision (which was supposed to be closer to the Netflix show). So that is why stuff like Muse seems kind of completely random, it's a leftover from the original show production

Effectively we got a Frankenstein of two different shows that they had to stitch together. In theory season 2 should feel more consistent since it will be completely done in the Netflix series vein

Exactly. The space between the good stuff comes off as an insult to the audience. What is supposed to be big moments comes off as cheap and tacky.

I gave it 4-5 episodes and should have stuck to my guns of giving it none.

the last episode was apparently (podcast interviews) all new material so thats why it feels a lot closer to the Netflix version than the first 7 episodes which is the frankenstein version.

i think you have to accept at this point season 1 is gonna be a mixed bag, hopefully they take the feedback and lessons learned and make a great season 2. i think season 1 is good enough, its not as good as the OG but its way better than the shit like Falcon/WS or Moon Knight, if they can build on it, its a nice street level alternative to the MCU movies.

It's fucking retarded.

Daredevil saves his girlfriend from being murdered, which convinces her that Daredevil's evil and just wants an excuse to murder people. So now she's anti-vigilante and he's trying to convince how they're necessary, even though 1 or 2 episodes ago he was against vigilantes also and just kinda forgot I guess. Both of those have already been done multiple times with Daredevil, it's really old at this point.

White Tiger and Muse's storylines came and went for no real reason.

Everything about Bullseye's arc is stupid as shit. Vanessa hires him to kill Foggy, even though he wants to kill her and Kingpin, so he kills Foggy for her, and now his only goal is to kill Vanessa/Kingpin again?? He just took a break from trying to kill them in order to do a job for them? And knew if he invited Matt to talk that he'd knock a tooth loose which would get him out of prison? Fuck that's stupid.

They also keep forgetting Matt is supposed to be blind. He doesn't even pretend to be blind anymore and nobody ever calls him out on it.

Then the magical minorities. The Asian lady cop who's a detective that orders SWAT around and reports directly to the mayor, Kingpin's advisor, Matt's law partner, bb news reporter lady, and even the black taskforce cop who's only "crooked" because he beat up a drug dealer selling fentanyl to kids and they've telegraphed him turning on Fisk multiple times. They're all amazing and overqualified paragons of humanity.

Interesting setup for next season - finale definitely didn't skimp on the violence and gore lol

i really liked the finale, as much as I don't care that much for Karen the show jumped another level when she and Frank were back and just talking to Matt. The OG cast really is so much better together. Every Punisher scene was fantastic.

Violence was kinda funny, it was good but the blood splatters were a bit comical, but I chalk that up to comic book style. Kingpin and the commissioner was another level, never expected that from an MCU show.

There is a small mid credit scene that answers the only real question I had, whats gonna happen to Frank

Great finale. Sucks the first 8 episodes were duds. You could just watch the finale and get a good idea of the whole season.

I like that Disney added a "Skip Credits" button so you can just jump to the scene and not have to fast forward lol.

Came back for Ep 9 for some payoffs per the reviews here. Made up for the 5 episodes I watched.
