What button do you press after you parry successfully?

and I take it you can't be hollow if you want to see white summon signs?
normal attack, sometimes you need to walk up a bit in order to do a counter attack though.

and correct, you need to be "human" to summon others.

It's easy to regain humanity without popping an effigy by throwing down a white sign at the nearest boss and helping someone.

how long do you usually have to wait for someone to summon you?

I've been sitting here for 15 minutes now. Can I go elsewhere and dick around while waiting for a summon? Anything I should be aware of when trying to be summoned?
All I can find is "how to get the white soapstone" guide.

The timing on parry/riposte is different than DS 1. Parrying most mobs successfully will knock them on their ass, literally. You have to wait until their falling animation is done and they are sitting still before you attack to trigger a unique riposte animation. If you strike too early it will interrupt their fall and just do normal 'counter' damage.

If you aren't getting summoned you may be too high for the area you're trying. Try doing it around the last boss that you killed.

You have to use the shade summon(the smaller one) to guarantee it. The bigger one doesn't guarantee it.

Thanks, gotta try that.

I can just drop it down and then go elsewhere though, right?
Yes, you can run around and explore/farm, but not use a bonfire. You will get a message when you can no longer be summoned. Not sure the distance you can travel and still be summoned, but my signs has only ever vanished when i used a bonfire.

Note that if you run around and use up all your spells and such and get summoned, you will lose them as well. Also, if you fail the invasion, your spells and such will not respawn, however, if you manage to kill the boss, you will go back to your world without losing any spell charges and such, so you can just place a new sign immediately without refreshing.

Getting a duty complete off the white soapstones replenishes all your spells/estus/durability/humanity. It also does not respawn monsters like bonfires do, so it's particularly amazing in some areas with a lot to clear (lava castle etc) between bosses/bonfires.

Only difference between the white summon signs is the duration of your summoning. The small one is about ~5 minutes, or a certain number of kills/souls, or a boss kill obviously. The larger one lasts much longer/requires more souls to end, but it pays out a better item (sun medals etc depending on covenant).

I have now bound the various stupid combination keys such as jump attack and break guard to my G-keys on my logitech keyboard. PC master race indeed.

as a penalty for that, now I can't connect to online game again after restarting.

Think the online servers are down. Oh, and buy a gamepad.

yeah offline play unavailable for 4 hours now, was also down many hours last night. Has it been like this since launch?

And why gamepad, I'm doing better now. You still tap two keys to jump attack, I just press G12. It takes roughly 30 minutes to set up everything, then the controls do everything I want to with more precision.

Suit yourself I guess, but you'll never have analog movement and that's one of the most important things about the controls.

And who uses jump attack (or that herpderp shield break thing that replaced kick) anyway?

Jump attack has it's place, rarely. But the shield break thing is almost always awful.

You keep mentioning it but I completely fail to see what analog controls has to do with anything. In the handful of cases where you need to walk slow to keep from falling, you would just hold the walk key or toggle run off. The entire rest of the game I was just jamming the thumb stick in whatever direction I needed to go, it wasn't like I was finessing movement in combat for any reason. It's not like this is Super Meat Boy.

And the only time I ever did a jump attack or shield bash was on accident. Using the gamepad I think I was able to do it on purpose 1 out of 10 times.

The new name engraved ring works super well for playing with friends. Played as a trio last night on the rotten, chariot, najka and freja. Good times.

Do you guys know if increasing your poison attack increases damage, build-up, or both? I'm just trying to figure out if i imbue my bow with poison, will it take less poison arrows for poison to be inflicted?
