I don't think it does, definitely wouldn't make a different on a bow that's for sure

Mainly I'm just wondering if there is a way to increase the rate at which the poison builds up; is there something I can do to, say, poison an enemy with three arrows/attacks instead of four? Or does the build-up rate just stay static?

When I tested it seemed to be per hit, regardless of the damage of the hit, but I didn't test super long either. So faster weapons, or multihits moves like Ricard's Rapier heavy which basically applies poison instantly.

It actually seems like a really dumb system for PvE. Poison and bleed are extremely situational, things don't survive a bunch of hits and the gameplay doesn't suit it. Poison is completely pointless on 95% of the mobs in the game, and bleed is capped at like 200 damage or something. Outside of bosses and a select few mob types, nothing's going to survive the amount of hits it takes to use poison and bleed. The whole stat system is nevertheless designed around it, with strength giving 50% more damage scaling than dexterity and lighter weapons being mostly garbage compared to heavy/strength/quality weapons.

There's a number of places where it seems to me that they've completely screwed the PvE mechanics in order to design the game around PvP. Same thing with how all decent spells have less than 10 uses, and the best ones have like 1-3 and can only be obtained once in the campaign. Also the prevalence of weapons with 40 or less durability. They really didn't seem to even care to try and balance anything around both PvE and PvP, even where it would have been entirely possible.

Yeah, it's a stupid Covenant that appeals to social rejects who simply want to gank. One common tactic in Doors is to sit on top of the ledge and snipe the person pulled into your world as soon as they start to load.
I just did Royal Rat, I was only gank summoned once, and it was just one player.
I find belfry tower to be far more annoying. If you die there, it's an actual death, and you're invaded within seconds of opening the door by two grey phantoms. Belfry gets my top ganking Covenant vote.

Belfry is by far the worst. I am at Shrine of Amana and haven't even bothered with the gargoyles in BL because getting to them is such a PITA.

Same here Lenas, having online play is so nice though

Belfry Luna zones in invaders 1 by 1. Just take out the first invader asap, most of them are bads.

Once you ring the bell, you can run to the fog wall in like 25 seconds and just ignore any invaders.

Just joined the sunbros and I'm finding it extremely simple to farm twin dragonriders back to back with people. Easiest fight ever.

I still don't get why they didn't add "non-cracked" orbs in this game.. having to farm to invade, or to protect is really.. really stupid in a system that already wants to limit how much you farm in the first place.
Indecisive ass motherfuckers i say.

In NG+ you can just buy them from the Brotherhood of Blood covenant. They designed it on purposed for NG+ to be invasion heavy and for NG not to be. This is their trade off for invasions even when hollow I guess.

With that said I haven't been invaded too much on NG+ by Reds. If you go into NG+ with sin you'll be invaded constantly by Blues.

Oh i understand that, it's just stupid that NG is pretty much PVE with no fun allowed.

Also, PVP is so awful compared to DS1, its like lag stab central getting stabbed 5-10 yards out of range rofl

Believe it's only against build-up - I know someone has tracked it to show absolutely that it doesn't increase the damage on the ticks.

The SM system makes it obvious thatFromwants people to continually PVP even up to max level. I think it's a change for the better. IMO, DS2 is the best game of the franchise, including Demon's Souls.

I have never been invaded in probably 15 hours of online play outside of Belfry Sol / Luna. Belfry areas however it's usually within seconds, and it's always two. Doesn't matter if you're bad if you can just stunlock with daggers. At least I got the gargoyles down last night, royal greatsword +8 was just enough damage to take one out with a full stamina bar.

I'm wearing a full set of Alonne Captain armor (total 82 poise) and a +poise ring which helps with ignoring single hits completely, but two people hitting you will always kill your poise.

82 poise seems to be more than most heavy weight sets come with. I'm already almost at 70% wt with that set and if I go into fat roll, I think that will hurt me in PVP far more than a few extra bits of poise.

Soul Memory?
This is probably my least favorite thing in the game, outside of preventing low level players with good gear from invading low levels it only hits the game negatively.

Even if you were to stop leveling at 150, and from then on went to PVP full time; you're still collecting souls, which up your SM, which then over time put you against higher and higher soul level players.
They need to add a cap, or something to the SM ceiling-because currently you can sit at 150, collect souls and end up only fighting those whom have like SL 400+ which is retarded as hell.

In a game that is so incredibly inconsistent with a gigantic level gap, it doesn't allow a community of people to find a medium level to stop at and compete against one another.

Didn't realize you were talking about two people hitting you. Yeah, 1v2 is hard as balls. You pretty much need to just outrange them and pick pot shots when they split up, kinda like fighting O&S in DS1. It's still going to be really fucking hard.

If you're in Belfry Luna, you can jump down the hole to the chest area. If one guy follows, you duel him. If both follow, you just run out and repeat. You can heal back the fall damage, they can't.
