Yeah only time I used armor is when I felt I couldn't avoid hits well enough, but it definitely doesn't reduce damage all that much, swapping from jester set to havel set and I was getting maybe 20-30% more EHP, but that's enough if some mobs have some fucked up combo that kills you in stunlock otherwise. It's all about dodging, blocking or parrying, not taking hits to the face. That's why poise is probably shit too, they didn't want people to be able to simply walk through flurry of hits and do whatever they like. Even with high poise you get stunned a fuckton.

Well then I'm sticking with this merchant's clothes lol. +50% bonus souls with the +1 snake ring. I was level 100 when I finished the Bastille.

Also, was the targeting lock-on system programmed by volunteer spastics? It's so far behind the quality of the rest of the game.

After having doubled my death count trying to get the various items in Iron Keep, I finally caved and watched a youtube video.

Not in a million years would doing this have occurred to me, so figured I'd post it here if anyone else wants. It is a spoiler to a spell and also to a game mechanic you already know, but might not have thought about in this area. Especially considering it goes against many of the written signs as "pointless", which it apparently isn't.

They show you the trick before in the open area of the keep, another fountain and another chest. In fact I used the same fountain twice, it's easier to run back from the other fountain than this one which involves all those drops and shit and 3 fucking archers at the top. Don't even need to do that jump with the ring and shit, just running works fine cause I think it's just closer over all, so that fountain/pharos is basically a waste.

You can probably make it with a ring, smelter armor and flash sweat alone though if you do it in 2 tries with a lifegem running. Haven't tested for sure.

It's a lot more obvious to guess than the fucking mill which has 0 clues as far as I could tell. This one is kinda like obvious because there's 2 pharos unlocking fountains, and there's fire you can't easily walk into, so the conclusion is fairly logical.

It's the same as DS1? Not sure what's wrong with it.
Well, I didn't play DS1, but it's possible that the spastics in question were employed then as well. What's wrong with it is the fact that you can't move the camera without also changing targets, causing your character to turn his fucking back to the thing you were previously facing. Also, if you hit the button and the intended target is a little too far away, your camera will pan in a random direction for no discernible reason.

How would you propose letting you change target in a sensible way while still letting you control camera with the right stick? Other thing is just that pressing R3(or whatever it is on xbox) resets camera to where you're facing, if you're not in range to lock it'll put the camera where you're facing and if you're not facing the mob you're trying to lock it'll swap.

I don't know I didn't have an issue, it was the same in DS1, sometimes you turn off the lock when you need to fight multiple mobs that are in various direction, or you move so they're all facing you making it easier.

I beat the game and never rage quit on a single boss. Decided to play for a bit and clear some areas that I hadn't gone through before. My first boss rage quit was on fucking Royal Rat Authority. I honestly don't know why he wasn't the final boss because he's a shit ton harder than Nashandra. Most of my attempts were less than 10 seconds. I do a ton of damage to him but he's so fucking aggressive that you don't have time to actually hurt him before he kicks the shit out of you. It's block, block, stagger, block, dead. And those fucking rats before him are bullshit. Half the time the hit detection doesn't register so I end up missing them, then I get hit with Toxic and, at that point, I just set the controller down because it's over. Total bullshit boss. I'm sure I could beat it if I really put my mind to it but right now I just don't have the patience.

What armor is 30 percent extra souls, seem to have missed that.
I think it's the one you get for killing the vendor guy. Jester gloves give more souls too, not sure how much but that doesn't involve killing a NPC, you get them a fuckton later though.

Not at home to play but not seeing any vendor drops for souls bonus armor, I know the jesters gloves (bought) and Covetous Silver +1 (vendor dropped/"sold") already, trying to figure out the other I'm unaware of.

The homosexual armor vendor in Majula, with the shop right next to the big pit. You kill him and he drops a full set of Tseldora clothes which gives a combined +29% souls when worn and stacks with the +20% of the +1 ring from the old bitch. He leaves behind a gravestone when you kill him, allowing you to use his shop post-mortem, though it costs 3500 souls each time you want to summon his ghost there.

You can kill him immediately upon reaching Majula, and since you can also get the ring pretty quickly, you could have +49% souls almost right off the bat. I did that on my sorcerer which, combined with using all the boss souls instead of trading them for weapons, left me hilariously overleveled. I'm only about halfway through the game and I'm level 120 without even really clearing out any areas.

Maughlin? The one that gives you Aurous Armor = Homo guy?

I see Titchy apparently does too now, thanks Pyro. (And that one can be done pretty early Dragonrider and Chariot are easy)

Beat it, 67 hours and 200 deaths.

Once I got near the end, I admit I kind of wanted it to finish already. Some of the enemies just became such cheap-killers that I was using my bow too much just to avoid having to deal with the trash.

I'll probably pick it up on sale for PC in the future and play it again. Maybe a caster next time instead of melee.

Just finished it.. 73 hours, 314 deaths. Hopefully in Dark Souls 3 they make the heavy armor worth wearing. Like others have said it's pointless to wear the heavier stuff.

Finally got my hands on this game and am a little disappointed. Before the game was released, I was excited to learn that attacks would be much more difficult to evade and that enemies would instantly pursue you, making it harder to heal. I'm about 15 hours in and haven't noticed smarter, more sophisticated AI. If anything, the AI is stupider. Enemies telegraph all their moves and take their sweet ass time following you. The bosses are also much easier than the ones in Dark Souls.
