Steam store page is pretty entertaining at the moment, all the top reviews are negative reviews saying DO NOT buy this because of the other edition soon to be released.

Saw this releases April 2nd, not the 7th as I saw listed on one site. This is great considering it is easter vacation now until the 7th.

Pre-ordered it immediately on the PS4.
Don't see that anywhere. Got a link? (And don't see it all on PSN store)

It releases tomorrow 3 PM PST on steam and in Europe on the consoles, everywhere else will release on the 7th i believe. As a person who just finished dark souls for the first time I can't wait for this.

I just searched for Dark Souls on the PSN. Wasn't on the list of coming releases.

Release dates are

JP February 5, 2015 (PS3 & X360)
EU April 2, 2015
NA April 7, 2015
JP April 9, 2015 (PS4 & XONE)

Mine unlocks in 21 hours 45 minutes. Hoping it starts pre-downloading before that.

Ah EU gets a different date.
Finished downloading, unlocks in 6 hours 30 minutes!

I am reaching bloodborne levels of hype of wanting to play this. Almost more, as I know how much I love this game, and I want to see the graphical upgrades, new mobs and dlc.

Really curious to see just how different this is to the original.

Initial thoughts after playing it for an hour now on the PS4. Not explored far, only at the bonfire in the castle.

- Game seems to run at 60 fps

- Lighting engine definitely improved. Torches seem to matter as dark rooms are hard to see in. Light seem to hit surfaces now and not just be a fixed object around you.

- Visual upgrade is substantial compared to the PS3, but probably not compared to the PC.

- Some changes compared to the old versions that I have noticed

---- In the first "tutorial area" where you can light torches, the path down to the chest you can get in to change genders is now blocked with a statue. Guessing you will need a branch to get down there.

---- At the first bonfire by the river, one of those large lizard things now roams there.

---- Heide knight that used to sit under the tree is gone. Quite a few more trash mobs. No idea where the knight is now.

---- Some small changes on pathing / areas where minor mobs are.

EDIT: Load times are very fast too, at least they appear to be. Just a few seconds. Then again, I am used to Bloodborne now, and it doesn't take much to see fast compared to that.

So, even this early in, you notice some changes. However, no idea how large or substantial they are as a whole. For people who have not played it other than on the PS3 /360, the upgrade will be huge. For those who played it on the PC, including the DLC, I would definitely wait for reviews to see if the changes are large enough throughout to warrant a new purchase.

PS: The achievements for the game are separate from any old version you had of the game as well.

Now off to see if my fire sword is where it used to be!

EDIT: Sword was where it used to be, however that area now also had two of the turtles with hammers.

This is basically a lite NG+ version as standard. More and larger mobs everywhere.

One thing I miss from Bloodborne though is the dodge skip and not just roll. And I keep pressing the wrong button. Oh I need to heal, lets put away the shield and dual wield the dagger.

So does it look better on PS4 than PC?
This version of Dark Souls 2 might look better on the PS4 compared to the regular version on PC, though I suspect that when this version is released as DX11 compatible on the PC, that the PC will again be superior in visuals.

Played some more now, level 46 or something. Killed last giant, Pursuer, Dragonrider and guy in the wharf.

Mob changes are fairly significant. Heide tower is now filled with the knights, who remained passive until I killed the Dragonrider, now they all roam. The path up to the ornstein guy is blocked by a wyvern (though hollow ring is moved, so no need to run there for that item in particular anymore). The tower is filled with bloodstains.

They also removed my early grind spot for souls

In the elevator down towards the boss The lost sinner, there used to be three large lizard like things in the water area. I used to make the elevator go up again, then pull them into the hole. A few thousand exp a piece, and they were fairly fast and very easy exp. Now the area is guarded by a 4 armed schmitar thing.

Some places are similar, but you never go far without noticing a change.

Not met any new npcs, but gotten some new items.

Overall very happy with the purchase.

Played it last night briefly. Did not see any real graphic changes (just went through the first door before quitting) but the framerate was BUTTERY smooth.
