Yeah, I bought it since I had DS2 ,and never really played it or bought any of the DLC.

The game is significantly better imo at 60 fps, it's just very aggravating with the item bugs, and it's extremely tough. I found it much tougher then BloodBorne so far.

I found the difficulty of Bloodborne's levels on a par with the Souls games, but the bosses were significantly easier. DS 2's dlc is the hardest content I've seen in any of the games.

But why? Its much easier to do:

If(hit something) durability--;

Just doesn't make any sense, because even if you cap it at 30 you can't say for sure everyone will run at 30

So I've been trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible, since I've never played DS2 at all (just beat DS1 a couple weeks ago). I've killed Last Giant (lol), Pursuer, and Dragonrider in Heide's. I've also purchased the branch for 12k from the Hag, and used it on the tutorial area, and subsequently killed that asshole Pursuer mini-boss with the dark magic AE thing. Also seem to have changed my gender back and forth a couple times, before I realized what that coffin was doing. There didn't seem to be a replacement branch in there.

At this point I am aware of two other statues: One in Heide's past Dragonrider, and one outside Majula past a guy who talks about the statue, in an area with some green-glowing nutsack zombies. The areas I seem to be able to actually progress in are: Past Dragonrider is a path to No-Man's Wharf, and past Pursuer in Forest is a bird-teleport to Lost Bastille. Also there's that red dragon in Heide's on the other side, but I haven't engaged him for fear of shitting myself. Dragons tend to rape me silly in these games.

I guess TLDR: What's a general suggested zone/boss progression, without giving too much away? Am I on the right track so far? Am I missing any branches?

I would suggest going to No Man's Wharf instead of Lost Bastille if you want to make sure you see everything

You probably don't want to use Branches on the one in Heide's or Betwixt until you've got plenty to spare.

No you won't get locked out, and it's been awhile since I played. The Lost Bastille bird is essentially a short-cut, with going through No-Mans-Wharf is the long way.
Ah interesting, ok.

And as for branches, I already used the one I bought in Betwixt, but at least it got me another Estus shard! Up to 5 charges now, at +1 from the sublime dust I found somewhere recently. Heide's maybe? Hooray.

Don't listen to Noodle - he's quoting for the original still I'm 99% sure - while I wasn't locked out of progressing, it was going to force my game into a really weird progression order because I used up my branches on optional stuff like Betwixt/Heide's.

DS2 NextGen is way more critical about smart usage of Branches until late game, unless you want to end up doing easy bosses last and harder bosses early at least.

http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.co...Branch+of+Yorecovers the changes nicely as well as where you'd need one.

Critical ones are Entrance to the ruin sentinels boss fight- ruin sentinel soul/shortcut to servants quarters, Dissolve the statue on the rope bridge blocking the entrance to the Dragon Aerie, Dissolve the petrified Straid in the lost Bastille or access to spells, armours and trading boss souls, Dissolve Rosabeth of Melfia in Shaded woods for access to pyromancies and upgrade to the pryomancy flame and Dissolve the statue near the tree bridge at the Shaded Ruins Bonfire and the bonfire and you'll get the Fang Key.

All the rest can wait until you've got excess - those all can mess with progress (or cashing in boss souls for spells/weapons - something I consider critical)

Well whatever! I already used my branch last night because I wanted to smash those Ogres in Betwixt, before getting any erroneous advice, so it's all on me!

Pretty sure you can buy another branch from the vendor at the second bonfire in Forest of Fallen Giants
Yea only one there (And I think he said he already got that one) though - there's not too many until you're into Iron Keep that seems the point where they start getting plentiful enough to throw out without thinking about it.
