Well unless they do some CAD or some other bullshit engineering/scientific crap on this PC 16gb ram is definitely overkill for gaming.

And yeah, the K proc is the overclock version. I would still opt for the K proc because you can squeeze out another 1.0ghz from the proc easy. If not, then definitely go for the H or B boards because the Z's only difference is the ability to OC.

To be honest, cut the ram to 8 gigs and get a better video card. for gaming, thats where its at. Its all about the video card. Try to get into a GTX760 or a AMD R9 270x.

Oh also I just noticed that seagate HD. Stay away from seagate. They have abysmal failure rates. Go with a WD blue or black. Also might consider a SSD as well at least for the OS install. They are becoming cheap now, you can pick up a decent 100-120gb for $80.

SSD should be first on the list. If you can't afford one shed cost on the motherboard or CPU.

I appreciate the benefits of SSD's (I have several), but with their budget I'm trying to minimize that.

If this were for me... I'd build up as much as I could. Right now I'm at $1400 which is 400 over budget.

If you aren't overclocking, skip the aftermarket cooler and thermal paste. I know its only a $30 cost, but it's 100% unneccesary.

Well the cool thing about that aftermarket cooler is that its actually pretty dang good for $30. Comparable to some other $70-$100+ coolers within a few Celcius. Also its nice to have that one anyway because of the noise issue of the stock coolers. It be worth $30 alone to have that shit quiet.

So it's a reasonably priced UHD monitor but it's not 4k.

Good catch, I didn't see that. But to be fair, that's still like 97% of the resolution of 4K. It's not like it's significantly lower, but yeah, it isn't true 4K

It's mainly just a difference of slightly different aspect ratio, kinda like 1080p(16:9) vs 1200p(16:10)
