I think I was misunderstood. Years ago you could buy a card like the 8800gt for $260-300 at it's launch price and run 60 fps on high settings. Now you need to spend ~$400 (launch price) for a 770 to get 60 fps on high . I guess what I meant to convey is the price of everything has gone up (price inflation or w/e).

Not sure how ssd to ssd is, but when installing windows fresh on a SSD it automatically configures itself to run on ssd, turning on such things as TRIM and other crap. Not sure if I would do that, and im lazy as fuck too.

@Zodiac Those GTX770s retail for $330 so its not that far off. But im sure there are 770s factory OCed that run for more.

Mainly just want firefox booksmarks, already found how to do that(moving folder to storage drive and backing up on new firefox using that folder). Will just hope any other programs install what they need as I try to run them from the storage drive.

That's another reason I love Google/Chrome. Bookmarks always sync to your account. Anytime I install Chrome on a new PC, phone, tablet, whatever all my bookmarks are instantly there.

Yeah, it's getting much easier to migrate to a new OS install for sure. Back in the day it was such a pain in the cunt to get everything back up and running properly again. I did a fresh Win7 install on my desktop awhile back and it seemed like it only took a couple hours to get 95% of it done, whereas back in the day it was a full weekend extravaganza.

Probably a stupid question. I bought all the stuff to upgrade my comp yesterday. It is only coming with 1 stick of 8gb 1600 ram. My motherboard wont give me problems with 1 stick? Like i dont need a stick in 2 and 4 or whatever?

1 stick is perfectly fine, especially for gaming. There is virtually no performance difference in gaming between 1 stick of 8GB or 2 sticks of 4GB.

RAM Performance Benchmark: Single-Channel vs. Dual-Channel - Does It Matter? | Gamers Nexus - Gaming PC Builds Hardware Benchmarks

The only types of things that would be noticeably better with 2 sticks(dual channel) would be very RAM-intensive programs like heavy duty engineering/scientific type simulations/analysis compilers, CAD, etc. Even a lot of productivity type usage like compressing files, transcoding media, and things of that sort are minimal gains, generally less than 5%.

So unless you are an engineer doing some serious drafting and physics/structural simulations, you won't ever notice a difference.

The one thing to watch for though, if you add more RAM down the road, try to make it the exact same kind/brand. Mis-matching different types of RAM has the ability to cause a lot of headaches.

Looks good but that motherboard, the Gigabyte, is not recommended because of some shoddy power supply shit they were pulling a while back. Maybe they fixed it but I would still opt for a MSI, AsRock, Asus.

Itlan, here is a nearly identical motherboard made by ASUS if you want to go with mkopec's recommendation. I have this motherboard in my build and it has served me very well so far. It is the same price as the Gigabyte you currently have in the build.

Newegg.com - ASUS Z87-PRO LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gbs USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

This is partly personal preference and partly statistically accurate but I would avoid Seagate harddrive like the plague. Below is a similar drive through Western Digital (I have the 2TB version of this):

Newegg.com - WD BLACK SERIES WD1003FZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb Internal Hard Drive

I also had that same case you've chosen. I really disliked it mainly for the reason that the rubber grommets came out while running cord through it and it was a total pain in the ass trying to put them back in. I've heard similar things from other people. Case is just as much about functionality as it is about looks for most people, but I'd look at other options if I were you.

Gracias. Most importantly, is it worth it for the money? Seems like a heavy investment atm, but whatever.

The CPU should stretch you quite a while. The GPU you can always sell and replace for a great improvement in a year or two (or just SLI the damn things).

If you go back in this thread or just Google "BF4 CPU benchmarks" or "Bioshock infinite cpu benchmarks" you'll see that there hasn't been a terribly large improvement in gaming frame rates even from i5-2500k to i7-4770k processors. Yours should last a while.

I'm just looking for the biggest bang for my buck atm. My only plans as of now are Blizzard titles and then the occasional must-have. Do I need something this powerful? Should I budget it more?
