So whats the point of Titan X then?
The nutjobs that want to be able to brag about having the most powerful card for the next 3-4 monthsSo whats the point of Titan X then?
Seems like they wanna charge 200/300+ dollars for the additional 6GB of ram. Other than that, it's the same card with slightly higher clock speeds?!?!So whats the point of Titan X then?
And robotics. Basically, they're creating a physical infrastructure to help Skynet to win this time.I don't think a lot of Americans realize just how large Samsung is. As of 2014, Samsung's revenue was equal to 17% of South Korea's $1,082 billion GDP. They do so much more than TVs and Phones, even though that's what most Americans associate with them. They're basically the Korean GE. They're a multi-national insurance company, they are a heavy industry company building ships, tankers, bridges, skyscrapers, they're a chemical company, they own hotel chains & resorts, they're in the intelligence/security industry, they're a biologic/medical company, etc. It's pretty nuts how many diverse industries they are a part of.
I've pretty much had the same opinion as you when it comes to single gpu performance at 4k. I assumed that 2x Titan Xs would be needed to play games at 4k with a "proper" 60fps. This video actually surprised me on how well a single Titan X does at 4k. But you can see it take a hit with Shadows of Mordor. With much apprehension, I'd say a single Titan X is acceptable at 4k: (Please ignore the somewhat idiotic Jayztwocents review)I can't even imagine what you could possibly do with that card in a game in the next couple years that would come close to using 12GB of RAM. That's nuts. 4K generally doesn't even use 8GB in most games right now. I guess if you could find a 1080p game that actually needs 3GB at that resolution, 4K could need 12, but I don't know of any outside of maybe crazy amounts of Skyrim mods
Titan X is definitely for 4k/5k gaming, it's incredible overkill for any 1080/1440 gaming, 2/3 of that RAM will never get touched at those resolutions.
Yet from the benchmarks I've seen, a Titan X can't even keep current games at an average of 60FPS at 4K, much less newer games that are more graphic intensive that would use up that RAM. So basically, I think Titan X is meant to be a 4K gaming card used in SLI. The single card performance is honestly pretty underwhelming for the price.
This. They might be shooting themselves in the foot with their 970 debacle if people have wised up to memory. The followup question should immediately be: how much of that RAM is actually usable?
On any card that doesn't have disabled pipelines, all of the memory is always just as fast as all the other memory. The followup question should immediately be: how much of that RAM is actually usable?
