+1 for this. I use it all the hell over the place. One of my switches...

Hell yea, the best value per strip is of course with the refills, .30c for medium
medium command strip refills

I've held up mirrors (you know those full body ones you hang on door, used like 6, worked great) and other fixures. I don't recommend the velcro, it sounds nice but has like 1/8 the hold power. They also have a bathroom version (waterproof) that i find great for hanging all those things that need hooks and shit, loofas or whatever wife uses.

Video update from when I got a broken PC to replace my broken PC. I forgot to post the video.

That sucks. Keep us updated on what they do.

I spent an hour on the phone w support and it didn't help. However, it did give me some ideas to try on my own, which I did for another hour.

Then I called back and ultimately got it fixed (I think my tinkering did the trick). It's still loud as all hell, but beggars can't be choosers I guess.

I'm still holding onto the old PC until they ask for it back.

I had to look into that box for 10 minutes straight when I was on the phone w support and it made me queasy. Added some insult to injury.

Not sure they thought through the UX on this.

Looked at the fried motherboard today. Had stuck it outside since it smelled pretty bad. I have 4 memory sticks in it. Apparently some type of short started somewhere as multiple pathways were burned/charred and one 1/4 of the board had all the caps blown up/swollen in it.

Not saying it is the reason why, generally you should try and go with 2 sticks of ram instead of 4 pieces. Two is a little easier on the memory controller/north bridge than filling up all four slots would be. So I generally always go with two sticks over four. Unless you're working on a quad channel system, in which case that sorta would go out the window.

Either way its a small difference. That is my "cool story bro" of the day. I'll see myself out.

Northridges have not existed in 5+ years. I've never seen a system fry, or fail prematurely from saturating all the ram slots.

brekk brekk : Yeah only reason I mentioned north bridge is because he mentioned it was an older system.

Noodleface Noodleface :

Four sticks would cause more strain on the memory controller and motherboard chipset. It would take slightly longer for the CPU to add and retrieve data from four sticks as opposed to two.

For this reason, 2 x 4 GB would be faster then 4 x 2 GB.

There is a much better technical explanation on The Hyphenated Site to enforce my answer, although it does mention lower sized sticks:

It's better to use two 2 GB modules -- not for any appreciable speed difference (although there may be a small advantage -- more in a bit) -- but for a more reliable memory subsystem.

Most desktop systems use unbuffered RAM modules -- this results in very large loads on the address and data buses when you have more than two modules installed, and can significantly degrade the signalling on these buses. The memory subsystem "sees' one load per memory chip -- so with two modules installed, that's up to 32 loads (with double-sided modules) ... and with four modules installed that's as many as 64 electrical loads on the bus. Some systems automatically adjust for this higher load by either increasing the voltage a small amount; reducing the clock frequency of the memory (thus slightly slowing it down); or by adding a cycle to the SPD's latency setting (again, slightly slowing it down). These adjustments help keep the memory subsystem reliable -- but mean that 4 x 1 GB modules would be slightly slower than 2 x 2 GB modules on these systems. But regardless of whether there's any timing differences, the memory will definitely be more reliable with only two modules.

Credit to garycase at The Hyphenated Site for this answer.

TLDR: More heat/electrical load = shorter life span of a system than less heat and less load. Like I said (twice now): not saying that is the reason, and it certainly isn't the foremost thing one should be considering when preparing a build/upgrading, it just popped into my head mostly.

It's much harder to get overclocked timings to work on 4 sticks than 2.

Other than that, it doesn't matter too much. 2 sticks do cool a lot easier, though, but ram cooling hasn't been a thing since DRAM voltage went down to 1.5v.

Anyone do any research into Ultrawide monitors? I'm interested in replacing my dual-monitor setup with a single ~32" ultrawide. Anyone have any input on the large format?

Is asking for 144hz in an ultrawide out of the question? Most of the ultrawides I see on sale are typically 60hz. Any other caveats I should be aware of?

Here you go, just don't look at the price.

EDIT: STILL CANT LINK TO AMAZON WHAT THE FUCK.
EDIT2: CODE TAGS FTW.

Thanks, yeah looks like a beast and I'd be willing to pay closer to ~$800 for the right monitor I think. Would be a beautiful thing to have on your desk though!

Is Prime95 still the app to use to test CPU OC stability? Decided to fuck around a bit with my 6600 last night, and it wasn't OCing worth a shit. Bumped the voltage up to 1.25V, and even at just 4.3ghz it was only able to run P95 for an hour before it got an error. It's being cooled by one of those Corsair packaged water coolers, H110gtx or something like that. Temps were mid 50's. I was just using the Gigabyte, in-Windows app to adjust the multiplier. So maybe that's part of it? Not sure how reliable in-OS OCing is. Haven't really bothered with OCing in years, but figured I'd fuck around a bit. Disappointed that I can't get much more than a 10% OC out of it.

Cheap ass motherboard and the 4 slots were filled with 512mb memory sticks, big whopping smoking fast athlo II lol. I think I spent a whopping $250 or so on the whole computer since it was just used to browse the web at my parents house. I have my own computer in another part of the house. I'm kind of surprised it lasted this long considering I saw a QC sticker on it from 2004.

did you connect it to a USB header and use the corsair software?
