Yea, I'm not. I'm gonna enjoy the higher resolution and try and be smart about graphics settings to maximize FPS. Those key settings, like shadows and stuff that don't make much difference between high and ultra, but make a world of difference on GPU load.

Also @Dom , these settings should work well for you? Acer XG270HU Review - TFT Central

So, I started off with those settings and I think I used TFTC's icc profile for a while, but I tweaked them to adjust to my specific panel. The thing is though that when I bought a color calibrator later down the line, the settings were pretty off and there was nothing I could do to get them as close as I wanted (probably due to the previously mentioned poor gamma) and I spent a lot of time and effort fucking around with settings to the point of being frustrated.

What I would suggest is trying those settings when you get it and load up LCD monitor test images and see if you can adjust things to get it a bit closer to the tests on there, and if it looks good to you after that: go with it. Also don't be afraid to mess around with gamma/brightness/contrast in your GPU control panel when adjusting. And be sure to set your GPU image settings to full in place of the default auto/limited.

What's a good 32 inch monitor? Don't care about 144hz, just want something decent and around the $250 range. The lower the better.

Would be nice if it was more than 60hz, but I don't think I really care about that either. Lol

1080p or more?

If 1080p then costco had a nice Dell 32" IPS for like less than $200. I think I got mine for $169 when it was on sale.

If I can get higher resolution or frame rate, great. But the price point is primary. Prolly wouldn't go over 300$ since I only spent 900 on the whole computer.

If you're not too picky about response times, you might want to consider looking into a used older TV or something. Easy enough to find a 32" 1080p with those and can probably find them super cheap.

TCL 43 4k tv is $229 at costco, use it daily as my primary monitor now over my 120 hz screen because I don't give a shit about first person shooters.

I might sit too close for this. Maybe 24-30 inches?

No first person shooters here either so refresh is a luxury.

Edit:. Did this on my 55 inch TV when GW2 came out, there was something about it I didn't like. Maybe a bit blurry when things were moving really fast? But that TV was made in 2009, give or take a year.

I have an ikea galant and just have the TV mounted on my wall a couple inches back. Tons of desktop space and the perfect amount of space to work. I actually went down from 3 screens to 2 with this set up and feel like I have more usable space this way. You can still play at 1080p just fine as well if you're sitting back with a controller. Depends on your setup or what kind of game if you want to run 4k, but you also don't have to max all the settings either.

TV's can definitely have motion problems with games, although it's not as much an issue now as it used to be (most newer ones come with gaming options to sacrifice a bit of quality for the sake of motion clarity)

At 24-30 inches you should be in prime distance range for a 27" monitor where you'll find many more options to choose from, although most 1080p panels tend to be 24" nowadays.

That said, I'm sure there are 32" 1080p options as mkopec mentioned, but I can't recommend any as I've never put any effort into checking them out.

Just a word of warning, the TCL's larger than the 43 aren't good for PC use, something about the sub pixel patterns or something. (different panels) 43 has been great for my uses, I think any larger would be too big for desktop use anyways.

if you're worried about sitting too close, the ergonomic standard is to thrust out your arm like a punch, you should have at least that amount of distance.

note this hasn't been updated w/ monitors larger than 19in, so, eh.

Yeah, the majority of computer ergonomics advice stems from CRT days, and even then those guidelines were really generalized and not relevant to most cases. That's why I recommend monitor arms so you can mess around with different setups until you find one that feels comfortable for you over a fair amount of time. The distance aspect can be adjusted both physically and via scaling, though having a brightly lit display too close has some obvious eyesight issues involved. The height of the display and where your resting vision lies on the screen is probably going to have a bigger impact on your health than anything else.

Display size always comes down to distance. Everyone has differing preferences when it comes to viewing angles. You can use this to figure out your current angles and then input various sizes/distances to see how it compares Viewing Distance Calculator

Too high an angle and you're going to be moving your neck a lot to look around, but it can be more immersive. Too small and you're going to feel like you're looking at a dinky little toy screen.

Then there's DPI/PPI to consider, as the larger you go with the same resolution: The more visible the individual pixels look (bad)

If you don't want to overthink it: 27" is considered at the top range of comfortable average desk sizes. 32" is considered overly large, but good for those that also do things like watch media/play consoles on them.

TV Size to Distance Calculator and Science

keep in mind that the viewing angle "standards" mentioned in a lot of these are for watching movies, not necessarily gaming, but it's not far off from what most people probably prefer.

The 32" was huge when I first got it, but now after like a year, I look at my sons 27" and laugh how small it is. Point being is you get used to it. But I would say that on a desktop, 32 is probably the limit of how big you wanna go. I have a 47" TV right next to my desk but I never use it. I should just get a long enough cord and use that for media. But then I would have a cord in the middle of my family room, lol.

Definitely one of those things that get hard to go back to after seeing the other side for a while. I went to a lan party over the weekend and couldn't bring the 49" for space/transport reasons and used my old 27" benq instead. As soon as I loaded up the first game I was like wtf is this shit.
