As long as you aren't married to very specific parts, you will kill it in November. Prime Day was amazing for building.

I'm totally out of the loop for computer stuff; my last build was 2011. All I'm thinking I really want at this point is a 9900k, an rtx 2070, and 2 TB of one of those newer types of SSDs. Aside from that, whatever is decent quality and reasonably priced.

Ryzen 3700X is the same +/- as a 9900K and a lot cheaper. Either way, the core components won't change.

Motherboard: Gigabyte whatever.
Gfx: EVGA.
Ram: GSkill or Crucial. DDR4 3200 MHz.
NVME SSD: Samsung Evo 970. For secondary NVME drive, get a Mushkin pilot. Slower reads/writes than the 970, but also half the cost. Your porn doesn't need to be served up at 3 GB/s.
PSU: Seasonic. Get a modular unit.
Cooling. Noctua NDH-15. Mine is very nearly silent. Negative? it's HUGE. Working on the PC is a PAIN IN THE ASS. AIO water coolers are nice because they don't take up much room around the mainboard.
Case: NZXT's H710i.
Windows 10 Pro key from Ebay for $7.

Whatever you do, get a few spare M.2 screw kits w/standoffs. The motherboards I've had include no extras...drop one and you are fucked. Also, get a spare NVME cooling kit just to keep around.

Use hose from a vacuum cleaner and put panty hose over the end of it. Suck up any dropped screws and washers with no fuss. Even if they drop into your computer behind the motherboard or something.

buy panty hose from the dollar store, just don't grab a random pantyhose willy nilly or wife will beat you, also don't ask for old panty hose she don't wanna wear no more, or wife will think something is up...

JUST GOTO DOLLAR STORE!

Only changes I'd make to this is that for a storage drive, just get non-SSD. I realize SSD's are getting cheaper by the day, but a 1TB nvme m.2 , and then a 2-4TB storage drive is plenty of storage, and similar costs. Despite it being half the cost, only having a 1TB storage drive on a secondary SSD sounds like too little of space.

Also, due to EVGA's warranty being so amazing, their power supplies are great as well if you find one on deal around Black Friday. Seasonic's of course are great as well.

Oh, and for cooling, air cooling is fine. Seriously. You don't need to hop on the hype train for AIO systems in my opinion. Get some sweet silent fans, and you're fine.

$225 for a 2TB NVME isn't bad, and is what I was advocating.

Air cooling is a wide range. My Stock 4790k had no chance with the stock cooler, or the 212, and even a Noctua NDH-14 wasn't enough for some benchmarks. I only ran those once per new install, so I didn't care.

I have the Noctua on my Ryzen 3700+ and it is virtually silent. The stock cooler was a leaf blower. CPU never gets about 65C no matter what I throw at it.

Where the AIO water unit is handy is that it doesn't use up all the space on the top half of the motherboard. Changing ram or plugging in wires is a pain in the ass with a big air cooler, and easy with the AIO.

Waste of money. You dont need SSD to save shit on. Get a couple fo 3TB drives and you will wind up 1/2 the cost of that NVMD and 2x the storage capacity. 1-2TB is shit these days with some games coming in a 150gb or more then the movies, 4K, the music, the pictures, programs...etc...etc... I would rather spend that on components that ACTUALLY make a difference, like an upgrade to a video card or better monitor.

SSD is a waste of money? Lay off the drugs, man.

For storage? Yeah, big waste.

My system has 2 ssd, 256gb each, about $80/ea. I for windows and other shit, the other is strictly for the game of the month im playing. Then I have 2 3TB 7200rpm for storage. Easy to move games back and forth from SSD to storage and vice verse with steam or blizz app, whatever.

Ok, you guys got me there. A storage device being used for storage is a waste of money.

All im trying to say is that SSD for OS, yep, makes sense, maybe for some games which have shit load times, yep makes sense but even then the jury is still out with SSd and games. But all that you can get by on a couple cheap 256gb SSD or even one 500gb ssd. then take the rest of that money you were gonna spend on 1tb ssd or multiple 1 tb ssd which is useless for mass storage, buy some 7200 rpm storage drives, and apply the rest of yoru savings it to a better video card or monitor, which will be more bang for your buck. and while SSD is getting cheaper, sure, its still scales the cost the bigger you go.

And if you dont care about cash, than do whatever the fuck. I dont care lol.

I don't understand what it is about this that is contentious to you? There's no point in spending the extra money for an SSD if you won't utilize the faster speeds, which you won't be if you're just storing shit on it. Even a 5400rpm hard drive is perfectly fine for it.

SSD for OS, games, and workload files. Cheapest $:GB whatever for storage.

I mean, unless you think loading that movie file a few milliseconds faster is worth the $100...

What's the go to storage drives now, when not in a raid Nas situation? Wd blues? Are wd blacks still the best but still expensive?

WD blacks are really reliable drives - they last years and years.
The 1tb storage drive I have now is a wd black. It's lasted a good 5+ years? Maybe getting close to 10. So I agree! I have a 2tb Samsung drive thats lasted nearly as long that I've been impressed with as well.
