I've used the Fractal cases before and I like them. Used the Define series which is extremely quiet. Liked it enough that I bought the same again for the next build. First one is going on 9 years old now and the fans that came with it are still nice and quiet.

Wouldn't worry about the rear fan not lining up, air won't do what you want it to anyway and it can take unpredictable paths. I smoke tested mine once and it was drawing in air at the bottom of the rear grille and blowing it out the same grille 3 inches higher. Also had one where setting the rear fan to blow inward made it run cooler. If temperature and noise levels are acceptable, close it up and don't think about it anymore.

Been out of town but finally getting around to swapping out computers at my work desk. This is the Fractal Meshify (C? Can’t remember) vs the North XL.

Old one is a little dusty but not bad for not having been opened in 3 years with 3 cats and a dog running around. 3080 vs 9070 XT in the North. Power cables were better in the old one but took the 3080 out to test it in the new build when I was getting the instability with the 9070 XT. Just didn’t fiddle with caring when I put it back in.

If you're going to keep that 3080 system, you might want to get a GPU support for it. Definitely looks to be sagging.

Yea the hwid activation script works on it. I've been running it for years now. It doesn't get the ms store or most other feature upgrades, so there isn't new crap to turn off every other week like the one Home version system I have. LTSC mostly stays out of your way like older versions of windows did although if left running 24/7 it will still force reboot itself once a month or so.

Get 21H2 IoT version, it gets support until 2032.

Agree it looks solid. Markup is around $600-700 over MSRP, but given current NV GPU pricing it's probably $300-$400 over real world pricing, so not bad. Nothing proprietary so pieces can be swapped as desired.

These are nitpicks: The B650 board will limit NVMe storage options (2 drives), which may or may not matter. Unsure if case has front panel type-C - pictures show it does, but specs say it doesn't (mobo appears to support it). RAM bandwidth is good, but no timings listed (matters less with X3D CPUs but still matters if chasing every last FPS). Power Supply wattage is fine, but no model/rating/listed.

Anyone know of an ad blocker that works nicely with Brave Browser? I can't recall which one, if any, I had installed on my old system, but now I'm getting those annoying "promoted" ads on Reddit. Those didn't appear on my old system.

Brave's integrated one works fine for me; I don't get any promoted things on Reddit. Did you refresh your filters and/or make sure that it's on?

ublock origin still works fine with it.

I applied some of the content filters and set the blocking to aggressive; that seemed to clear out the ads on Reddit.
