There's no ETA, it's just a 'priority' according the two morons who fought to keep chat out of the game for as long as possible because of "toxicity" and other buzzwords.

I don't understand how they can get the hard stuff right, like performance, and then absolutely whiff on basic community features and compelling reasons to grind events and dungeons for loot.

Probably because they spent most of their development time getting the hard shit done and now they're pushing out easier incremental updates? Bungie no doubt was pressured to release on a specific timeline and you need to make concessions. This is a reality in all businesses.

Or maybe they just have really good low level programmers and a bunch of assclowns making the UI/UX and gameplay loop decisions.

Its that Luke fucker thats calling all the stupid shots. Granted D1 was grindy as hell in the beginning with the mat farming and leveling up weapons before you could even use them proper, shit like that. But it seems like with this game they reverted everything back to absolutely no grind whats so ever, they even give you free raid and trials gear just for being in a fucking clan. Imagine that in a game like WoW, getting raid gear delivered to you every week because youre in a clan. People would have lost it. Its like designing for the lowest common denominator Timmy. And the fucking chat, dont get me started on that. Yeah lets not have chat int he game because someone might hurt someones feelings. Probably the first PC mutliplayer game in the history of games that does not have chat channels like general and lul, clan.

So now they have to spend a year fixing shit in the game to make it playable past 2 weeks for normal people while people leaving in droves. such a shame. Because its like the best feeling shooter there is, and probably the only PVE one with raids and shit. That fucker needs to be fired, or voted out or whatever, because the decisions he makes are really idiotic.

Luke Smith is a fucking idiot. Just as I had always thought. Who dreams of this garbage? "Let's limit progression so we can sell more bright engrams!" At least they hid it better than EA did.

Bright engrams don't progress you at all, have no affect on performance of your character and are literally things you don't even fucking need to have.

Cosmetic as fuck.

Also blaming Luke Smith is lol as he made TTK which is highly praised as the best time of D1.

Bungie's main issue is too many teams, not enough talk between them and that the D2 team started D2 and CoO before Rise of Iron. So a lot of the changes that the live team made in D1 weren't put into D2 for whatever reason.

Also I can go back and show you a shit load of reddit posts where a lot of the stuff that changed in D2 came from armchair developing player feedback.

The problem is players are mostly idiots and either don't know what they want or didn't know the repurcussions of what they asked for.

While D2 has some issues, they'll be fixed between the live team changes and what's already been laid out.

People forget that launch D1 was garbage, that TDB had almost no content and a hated raid, and that HoW was the same, very lacking content wise.

People fucking HATED random rolled guns, they HATED getting a gun and it being shit until you unlocked everything, they hated the subclasses having 200 choices but 175 of them sucking dick.

Forever 29? Forced to play 3 of the same class to do anything? 300 hours and no Gallajorn. Can't get in LFG groups without Gallajorn? I did VoG 150x and all I got was shards? Still no Vex, no Fatebringer, no Vision?

How about for PvE everyone and I mean everyone used the same fucking load out lol. Fatebringer, Blackhammer and Gallajorn.

The huge ridiculous swings in the PvP meta? Oh shit Suros is too good NOW EVERY SINGLE AUTO RIFLE SUCKS FOREVER.

Peoole FUCKING HATED the hard mode Crota raid weapon, Necrochasm, because not only was it hard as fuck to get, it was hot unusable garbage because Bungie nerfed autos so hard.

How about in Y3 when they lowered the TTK so much everyone ran around with sticky nades 1 shotting people in the crucible while using the wormwood sidearm.

Also half these assholes asking for a challenge and a grind go out of their fucking way to cheese/exploit around it anyway. To advance as fast as possible then bitch there is nothing to do. Loot cave? Faction token exploit? Crota cheese? Leviathan cheese?

Three of the same class to advance through VoG as fast as possible?

The worst part of Destiny is 75% of its player base and ppl like you who didn't play it but feel the need to talk about it like you did.

Don't like it don't play it.

To compare it to EAs scandal is ridiculous. It isn't even close.

Turnkey scalable tech for all the backend is the answer to that.

Their internal design teams must still be waterfall for this shit to be so far off from the end of D1. How they couldn't have incorporated some of the QoL changes in the release is fucking beyond me.

If anyone is looking to prestige raid this week shoot me a PM. We're looking for an extra person to join our main raid group - our 6th spot has been rather unreliable in terms of availability. Our core group is made up of old original Death & Taxes raiders from vanilla WoW.

I fell in love with the look, feel, and performance of the game from day one. (that hasn't changed)

Having never owned a console, the original game's history, and "issues" that Gaige Gaige outlined above, mean nothing to me. You would have thought I was the perfect new recruit to Bungie's PC stable.

Well, I haven't even properly "fitted out" a single Guardian yet, and I'm losing interest really fast. I play fairly casually, and at really erratic hours, so Clan membership hasn't really worked. I knew that going in, but thought the no sub + online + DLC model would still have fit me like a glove. I can't even be bothered to work out why anymore, it's weird, just stopped caring and I won't be buying the DLC.

I can say with certainty though, that the lack of public chat really really pisses me off, and has been a factor, though I can't really say how much. Oh well, guess I'll see what happens next year.

Meh, quit excusing this shell of a game and its dumb decisions. Players hated this players hated that, blah blah, who the fuck asked for 4v4 crucible? who the fuck asked for higher TTK, even than yr3 D1?

The multiple team bullshit that gets thrown around as an excuse is laughable too. As if one team is in china and the other in Peru or some shit and they both talk different languages, lol. Also players dont design games, devs do. They should have a vision and stick to it, just like they did with D2, the problem was their vision sucks. they were blinded by trying to attract new plebs to their game, in which they succeeded in a way, this game got high praise in the beginning. Sad thing is even the plebiest of plebs got a bad taste in their mouths after a few weeks and being bored because the core game is nothing but a shell.

Thsi game does not know what it wants to be. A looter shooter? with hardly any loot? A collection game? With hardly anything to collect? A rpg with hardly any rpg elements? A pvp competitive game with no competitive mode and no rank lists?

I really want to like this game but Mass Effect 3 multiplayer was a better co-op shooter with more interesting progression.

For PVP I'd highly recommend Titanfall 2, Rainbow Six or Uncharted 4 / TLL, first two are FPS last is TPS and I really enjoy em all. Still play a game of T2/UC4 mp daily, gets that nice quick PVP fix and all have a lot more variety and balance and fun than D2.

Titanfall 2 even had a better multiplayer co-op PvE mode than this.

I keep telling my friends - Destiny has always been more like a wine. Gets better w/ time. Just step away for a couple months. Let them address the changes and it will be in a better place. Trust me. Destiny 1 ended up in a real good place after only one year. Taken King was amazing in contrast to Vanilla Destiny. I'm relatively confident that by the end of year1 of Destiny2, we'll be in a better spot, ready for the next major expansion, a la Taken King. By the end of whatever that major release is, we'll be in an even better spot. I'm not an apologist for Bungie whatsoever, as they definitely regressed their franchise, but they're actually reacting to feedback. May not be exactly what everybody wants, but its still a reaction, and tangible changes from development. For the life of me, I can't fathom why they just negated three years of hard work though (Vanilla Destiny, Taken King and Rise of Iron). I'm sure there are technical and logistical reasons that drove them down that road, for instance the whole static weapon system...but still. For everybody who's new to the game, if they included the base games, it would seem huge if the first three years were accessible and scalable to whatever the current system is. IMO that was a huge waste and arguably their biggest mistake.

Gotta be real w/ ourselves. Compared to other 60$ games, did it give you more, or less 'value' than other FPS'. Really the only other games in its sub-genre are Division and Borderlands (for the most part). If we compare to other recent FPS' in general, I got 20 hours out of Wolfenstein, 15'ish out of Lawbreakers, 6 out of Quake Champions.Obviously, Quake and Lawbreakers weren't 60$, but I was less than happy w/ both of those. Even w/ out the DLC I can still run Trials and squeeze more out of Destiny. The PVP has definitely been gimped IMO, but still fun compared to what's currently out. Lawbreakers is dead, TF2 is dying, COD is just meh at this point, and I won't touch Battlefront.

Now do I agree that Curse of Osiris should be something we have to pay for? Fuck no. The base story was laughable IMO. Having Nathan Fillion as a main character clouded a lot of the communities view on how bad it really was. I was bored after the 3rd mission. When up against other FPS stories, even Halo...........Destiny 2 is a trash story. Curse of Osiris definitely should be free.

I fired up the trial last night. I haven't played a shooter since MW. Seems like a fuckin blast.....but then I read some of this thread.

So is it worth the investment as it stands? or should I wait for some DLC and patches?

Don't think of it as an investment. It's not an MMO in its current form. Just play through the content until you feel you're done with it and then play something else.
