You pre-ordered I mean "lost a bet" the collectors edition didn't you.

If it's actually good this time around, I won't have a problem plunking down 30 bucks for it. (Trade in, GCU) to give it a shot. The game play mechanics were good (Which should be expected in this day in age, but something else that bothered me with the praise of this game.... as if we shouldn't come to expect good shooting/combat in a shooter in 2017 as standard anyhow, 26 years after Doom Shareware hit the streets) but everything else from mission design pre TKK to leveling was mundane as shit. Go investigate, fight through enemies to get to a POI, "Let me hack this" says Peter... "OH NO. THE FALLEN". Fight 3 waves of enemies, collect loot. Over... and over.... and over.... and over... again and again.

If Destiny 2 doesn't mess up their combat mechanics, has stable servers, has mission variety this time while leveling and different things to do besides the above repeated for 20 hours worth of content. I'd definitely check it out.

Its not so much that the game was bad, or good for some, its just that most were expecting more,....you know..expecting what we were lead to believe would be there. Sure mechanic speaking the game was a perfect 10, but id like to think people have higher expectations than that. If you werent into PVP than for the most part Destiny never lived up to the hype and if you loved PVP than you see Destiny as a standard for all other games. However my only reason for not purchasing D'2 at this point is because it will be on PC but PS exclusivity affecting PC just kills my interest.

Ok serious question: Why get hypes for a game play reveal. 1) It will (Should) be the same combat mechanics you have already seen. 2) Based on the blatantly and epic false advertisement in the last game, what makes you think whatever they say won't be bullshit like last time?

Was a decently entertaining game that I still play occasionally?

I think they blew their load on the announcement trailer too soon. They should have dropped that video last week or this week, I'm excited to see the gameplay but not full hype train frothing at the mouth as I should be.

I hope it's good but I'm taking everything with a grain of salt until I actually see stuff at launch or in beta, they definitely burned us last time regardless of what I enjoyed in the game last time.

I'm not hyped at all. I am keeping an eye on this one, much less than I was the last one. But that's that's just to see if the story has been gutted out of this one as well. Let someone else take the fall for D1 and D2 if that be the case. I'm already on the hook for enough games, lambos, and dirt bikes.

You don't count. You have a brain. You are also not "OH MY GOD I MUST SEE THIS GAME PLAY REVEAL AND I HAVE CALLED IN SICK FOR WORK TOMORROW AND BOUGHT POPCORN AND CHEESE ITS! OH MY GOD ITS REALLY HAPPENING OH BOY OH MAN HOLY SHIT!"

You, like other's here, are going to check it out and say "Looks the same - probably will check it out since I liked the first".

In other words ZyyzYzzy - you are a good gamer.

Personally, I think it is going to flop. The measure of the first, which a majority panned regardless of how much it sold, will be the true tale of the IP's receiving in the gaming world. And Bungie = Bioware basically at this point. All their good talent has fled.

I want to see huge open worlds with way more guardians out in them, as well as circa 2006 Orgrimmar style cities packed to the brim with people so I can see all the cool gear and weapons others have acquired. I also want PVP maps to be huge and more like PS2/BF1 style instead of tiny confined arenas.

I seriously doubt either of these things will happen so that dampers my excitement. I hope I'm surprised but I more realistically expect the same size maps, encounters and number of dungeons with small updates yearly for 30-50 bucks.

I never even played Destiny but I know the sequel isn't going to flop. It is going to sell like gangbusters.

I hope that having ditched the last gen consoles, they are able to implement features and game designs that they weren't able to in the original.

I didn't really feel all that burned by the game release, what chapped my ass was the updates and DLC. They were glacial about fixing any problem no matter how easy to fix, and their balancing updates usually made the balance worse rather than better. And I was not a fan of the DLCs.

Unfortunately I don't see that getting better with Destiny 2

Was Destiny one of the best games I've ever played? No. Did I get my money's worth? Absolutely. For a game that didn't cost anything else beyond the initial purchase price (+ price for some of the expansions), I was able to play as much or as little as I wanted. The story was a fucked-up, convoluted mess where it was obvious it had undergone so many revisions as to be comprehensible. Still.....I will always have good memories of the game, mainly because of the raids and the fact I got to meet some great people from this very board......Ritley, Sarthis, Sarthek, Dwreck, JonnieRipps, LostVirtue, Mbromley, and TheFourth, just to name a few. If it wasn't for Destiny I would have never had the opportunity to interact with these fine folks. Many good times were had.

Hopefully Destiny 2 just takes the best parts of Destiny and makes it greater, while fixing the shortcomings such as lack of matchmaking or ingame LFG for raids.

I agree Mizake Mizake , however I was sold on this 10 year idea of free updates with occasional DLC with no need to buy a new game every few years. Now here we are 3 years later with a new game we have to buy. I was sold on the idea of a 10 year project with lots of updates and content and instead we got a handful of dungeons that we ran over and over again for years. Yes, I had a great time with my friends after TTK but we were promised the world and we got a fraction of that. The best part of the whole thing is they pulled that video (Atleast I couldn't find it) to show how full of shit they were.

Do I want to play Destiny 2? You bet and I will more than likely. however, I feel betrayed and having looked back at the last 5-7 years of AAA titles I can't help but think we aren't going to get the full potential of this game because they can sell it to us in tiny pieces instead of putting out a huge game and then adding on to it.

This right here was my biggest gripe. I hope so too. And dont fret about Ut, hes just trolling you guys.

Honestly in this one I am not. People need to remember just how bad of shape this was launched in from what was promised. How it was actually gotten away with without tons of lawsuits for false advertising appalls me. Aside from some folks liking it, none of what they said would happen, actually happened. There was no grand story, there wasn't a 10 year plan, free updates, etc. It turned into a game being cut into 3 pieces to resell two as DLC which aborted what story they did have, then came the microtransactions for emotes, a broken loot system, with one redeeming point being TKK.

I know you like the game play mechanics - but honestly, how can anyone sit there with a straight face and say we shouldn't have these gun play mechanics in all our games as a standard? The fact any FPS's do NOT have responsiveness/good hit feedback/shooting feel to this standard should be absolutely, 100%, ridiculed - while at the same time, any game coming out having these mechanics should NOT be praised in return. This type of feel should be 100% expected in this climate.

Something else people need to stay grounded on is Bungie is history. Just as Bioware is history. They do not call the shots - Activision does. So prepare yourself for the worst when it comes to more content being cut, more microtransactions instead of earning in the game, and quite very well possibly some pay to win features sooner rather than later.

I say that because this first game should have been decimated based on just how poorly it was delivered from marketing to launch. It seemed like one gigantic experiment in what Activision could get away with. Usually, that bar presses back hard (Microsoft's Xbox One) and changes revert back. There was a LOT of disgust at first, but the garbage / shallow design of this game kept flowing in. I saw more depth from F2P shooters when this came out. Point being that they will press the bar even further to see what they can get away with, and why not try it with this.

I don't think Ut is trolling, he's just a pessimist. I agree with most of his gripes with games actually, but he goes from 0 to "Rape and kill every developer's family" pretty quick

Not to that extent. We just need to remember what happened last time and not give them a pass. One of their developers posts here and seems like a decent guy, and hell, most of the people doing the actual development have their hearts in the right place. It's Activision here people should be worried about, and some idiot from a year or so back telling the gaming community how much value there is in buying emotes for 5 bucks a shot, and actually having the balls to say that's "Content". That needs to be culled. Because Destiny was a gigantic lowering of the bar to the point people were all "But the shooting mechanics... so awesome". No. The shooting mechanics should be as standard in an FPS as cheese is to my pizza. It's the content in the game and effort in the richness of the world building that matters, hell, even mission design. And all of that was one generic copy paste or proc gen nightmare from patrol point to patrol point/mission point to mission point.

Only The Taken King gives me ANY hope they actually might do something better in the actual game department this time around. But I sure as well won't be getting hyped to preorder a game based on seeing a new environment and the shooting mechanics we should * always * see from any FPS made after 2001.
