Terrible grind for progression etc.
I dont even mind the grind, In D1 it was more tolerable because of the random drops. Which made all the repeatable content more bearable because you never knew what just might drop for you. Every purple engram that dropped might be something good. Same with the sttrikes, they had their own rare loot which also had random rolls. Shit, I remember running that same Sepkis or whatever his name was over and over for that hunter cloak with the fur collar. Or that mind one for that imago loop hand cannon. PvP was also the same way. It had its own loot table with random rolls and everybody wanted that god roll eyesluna. Sure a system of random rolls like that, 80% of everything that dropped was hot garbage, but man, when you got one of those rare birds, like the 1000 yd stare with AA and snapshot, or that party crasher +1 with rangefinder and field choke, it made all that grind worthwhile and you were ready to do it all again, like shaxx says.
Whats really retarded in D2 imo, first of all, all that shit above is gone, and second, retarded soft caps on everything with only one way to bridge the soft caps is shitty weekly milestones. So for an entire year you had people logging in on Tuesday, knocking out their milestones, then logging off because there was nothing else to do, nothing more to strive for. Nothing at all to grind for. I see some D2 streamers with literal 1000s of tokens in their inventory, 10,000 gunsmith mats, 10,000s of legendary shards... WITH NOTHING TO SPEND THEM ON.
Also whats missing is shit like this screen at the end of a match...
Yes, you still see the shit you earned on the right of your screen, but this was more something like a fucking slot machine. Something everyone in the match saw and more visual IMO. Little shti like this make the world of difference. Everything in D2 is token based for instance. Iron banner does not drop items at end of match, but drops tokens you turn in for a prize.
