so in D2 you have to go into your inventory to click on your achievements(triumphs) to 'claim' them....

Did the 100k thing. Did a 980. Overall was pretty easy once I was explained the shields and shit. Got 2 951 BP's. Too bad I already had one! No weapons. So still at 961!

Brahma, at 961 power, which is pretty incredible you made it there in a short period of time as a new player, consider yourself at cap basically. The math to upgrade each piece of gear beyond 950 because of RNG is insane...
Spend your time doing Exotic quests, pinnacle/ritual weapons (PvP top tier legendary weapon bounties), etc.
I mean, I’m not saying don’t try to level up anymore, I’m just saying by the time you make any substantial progress and hit even a minuscule upgrade, say 965 or whatever, you could have completed God knows how many other useful things that will serve you much, much better in the present and the long run. It will also teach you a lot about the nooks and crannies of the game and whatnot.
There are also some event type things that are fun and can give you useful gear and break up the monotony of grinding strikes endlessly such as Menagerie (event started through the Director map on planet Nessus on the bottom near Leviathan raid), Blind Well (public event style arena with mini bosses in Dreaming City map, available in Director), Shattered Throne (also Dreaming City but definitely have a fireteam of 3 for your first time), Reckoning (arena style PvE in a cool map in the Gambit Director), Black Armory weapon and gear creation (Ada-1 questline from the Tower), the new Vex Offensive on the Moon is also a lot of fun and very easy to pick up and do, also lets you fully use all those seasonal mods for Barrier and Overload and the other stuff to it’s full potential.

If you look at websites like light.gg, let it sync your profile and you can quickly search weapons and gear and see what rolls they have, etc. so you can get a good idea of what you want to farm and what’s possible so you know a good keeper item when you get it and don’t have to sit on a million ‘what if’ guns and gear and stack some shards & enhancement cores. Find what stats you want to prioritize on your armor and focus there so you don’t have to keep losing highly upgraded gear because you were upgrading gear with stats you didn’t want.
Some cool Exotic weapon quests are the Last Word and MIDA multi-tool and can pretty much be solo’d start to finish, good way to kill time and work towards some new weapons. Google Exotic weapon quests in general to find ones you want and there will be guides for everything if you get stuck or confused.

Once you’re really comfortable with the game and if you can find a couple peeps, go try raiding if you haven’t! It can be frustrating but also incredibly fun and rewarding with the right group. Even old ones are fun and great learning tools, and you can get cool shaders and legendary guns etc you can’t anywhere else, even if it isn’t top tier exotic stuff.

*Reckoning - You will probably want to go through the Drifter Allegiance quest. It is not long and the lore is pretty cool. Reckoning is also where you get the Gambit Armor, as well as some very nice weapon drops from the boss (iirc the boos and drops rotate weekly).

I picked up New Light for myPs4 pro.

I really like the combat so far, the few strikes have been good. I just have one teeny criticism.

I have no fucking clue what to do in this game
!. it just sorta dropped me into this solar system with open world planets. No story, No Campaign(s), My only goal seems to be to increase my ilvl. So far i got it from 750 yo to 805 on my hunter. Between everything it feels like this "new Light" thing is more out to get lapsed players. not pick up people like me.

Ay advice on what i should be doing? Anyway i can do those first few campaigns, but tuned for my max lvl boosted character.?

Right now i mostly do Strikes, the Nightfall strike and heroic daily. While otherwise Screwing around the EDZ, doing random quests, world quests/events. I need a better way of doing things, some direction. Or else I'm sure the novelty and fun of doing strikes will wear thin and I'll quit cause i just seem to have no story, no progression, and no purpose

Talk to Amanda Holiday in the Tower/Traveler. I believe you can do the first couple campaigns from her.

Your criticism is shared by many. They really dropped the ball on giving New Light players an on-boarding experience. People are going to hesitate to spend the money if they fear that there is not much more to the game.

YEah they sure did drop the ball. there is probably a good 50 hours of campaign stuff to do from Vanilla Destiny2 all the way down to the latest Moon shit.

Also, Power above 950ish right now is pretty useless. Its kind of a system of diminishing returns. Most PvE activities scale so power above that activity is useless, take for example a normal strke list. It is tailored for 750s but no matter how much higher your power is, you gain little to no advantage in either defense or offense, or none that I have ever felt. In PvE at least once you reach a threshold of that activity, for example 920 power in a 920 nighfall, you gain little to no advantage past that in that 920 playlist. So the only activities that will pose higher challenge than your light so far is the 980 nighfalls and haunts for PvE activities (maybe a hard mode 980 raid later in season?). The only activity that I can think of that will utilize power in PvP is Iron Banner, but even then its a curve they use meaning that power increases above 950 give only slight advantage if any at all. Now im not sure of the exact curve they are using this year, but they have always used this type of power curve dating back to D1. You probably have to be below 940 to see a difference in the dmg numbers you deal and dmg dealt to you that you can even notice.

So yeah getting 980 power would make the 980 nighfalls easier to do, plus probably give you a slight edge in PvP Iron Banner, but this is a huge grind considering pinnacle weapon rewards are extremely rare and also the other way to gain light level is your seasonal thingie (gatelords eye), and even then it reqires huge grind to level. And it will probabaly be reset next season? But there are people that are 970+ now so....

Ok, i got the old campaigns from that women the other day.

Bui if i do those will they actually give loot and stuff i can use? Will i just faceroll them and get nothing?

Whats the fastest way to get your ilvl up otherwise?

You will get loot from everything. And actually the first main vanilla campaign gives you exotics that you will use at max. The regular purps only keep the good shit like outlaw rampage or outlaw and kill clip. The exotics you can use but dont level them, you can pull them later from collections when you want them so you dont waste mats on leveling them.

Try everything and keep the guns you like. The gear to level dont mean much, just wear blues/purps until max. Only level the guns when youre close to max level so you dont waste mats, and only do so for the shit you like.

There is also tons of exotic quests in this game to do. So do those too like the thorn, ace, etc...

Fastest way for me to level up was just to run strikes.

No longer true since SK.

You scale above activities until +50 above rec, unless it's a pinnacle activity, then it's +20.

It does make a difference, but only when you're going against level appropriate shit.

Forsaken is on sale on Steam, $15.

Ended up buying it since my bnet -> steam transfer got all fucked up and i had to start over as a "new light". Already played through forsaken in the past, but picked it up again to be able to buy all the weapons from Xur and pick up forsaken pursuits.
