Did you play the last season? The constant back and forth on motes of darkness and stuff? I don't understand how/why the stranger got together with them, and keep waiting for some explanation or backstory or something I missed... but it just sort of... happens.

I never played D1 (I started when Blizzard gave it away free) and then bought forsaken, so I had zero clue who the stranger was until I read it on the Destiny lore wiki.

I did play last season. I get their motivation just don’t know how they all came together

Yeah, during the main storyline quests I didn't understand the cut scene of them all using Stasis powers, with no introduction nor any explanation.

I guess Eris said "Well, you have a ghost" at some point?

Haha, I don't know, specifically. Best bet is probably to visit Ishtar Collective, search for what you might be interested in, and scan the entries. I know the new entries in "Regarding Stasis" are all written by Eris to others, including the Drifter and Stranger, and kind of explains some motivations. Entries in the "Dark Future" are the Stranger's recount of her own timeline.

Imagine if after 7 years they just put the story into the game and not more cards that are buried in menus and poorly organized

imagine just 30 seconds more of voiceover to squash any questions

Definitely not ideal but it's just kind of something you need to accept of the game at this point. I much prefer it to FFXIV online game story telling, forcing you into long cutscenes one after another and repeating plot points 20 times. We did get in game story more in BL than we did in Shadowkeep already and there are bound to be a few more scenes involving Uldren when he comes.

I agree, story is fine in this game as is. YOu know exactly WTF is going on in the grand scheme of things. And if you want more, they have reams of the stuff to read. This is a looter shooter. You go kill shit and hope some good loot drops. Rinse and repeat. Please lets not make it into some single player RPG type game where the story is constantly shoved down your throat. Bad story at that.

YouTube is an easy lore fix. I watch Mynameisbyf, and he often reads the entries along with commentary. He is a giant lore nerd, and has a pretty good grasp on the whole thing with a little speculation here and there. I still agree that they should have just done voice over for the lore entries in game, like Mass Effect did.

Yeah Byf's stuff is top notch and I generally listen to his videos when they come out, makes great background noise when doing strikes or bounties.
