Hopefully they add real matchmaking to to PvP in some system that can judge skill level in some way, not just the PvE level.

They did and will most assuredly do so in D2. It was all about the skill based match making, pretty robust system too that everyone bitched and complained about. The only way to thwart this system was to create a new character and go destroy noobs for a few levels until once again they system labeled you a top 1% god and put you back into the sweaty compound with the other try hards. Maybe SBMM is not fully functional in a 2 day beta, but trust me, once it sees you play, say 20 games and decides what score to put you into, youre fucked, and playing with others just like you. This system even takes precedence over connection too. So you will be constantly playing with yellow and red bar peeps because of SBMM.

Now you might think that a system like this is what you really want, but its not. It turns every single PvP match into a sweaty contest of try hards, especially when you get good enough to overcome that 1.0K/D. not only this, but lets say you want to play some PvP matches with your budy, but your buddy is a PvP god, well you get where this is going and why it never works and why people bitch about it, especially the connection issue. Since they chose Skill vs connection every time for match making, youre constantly playing against laggy opponents from venezuela and peru.

99% of the Bungie.net forum posts that are trending right now all say "Remove SBMM" • r/DestinyTheGame

SBMM upgraded me, now Crucible isn't fun • r/DestinyTheGame

There are LOADS of posts on this sub about players' unrest with SBMM, here's a few of them from just the last few days. Bungie, please consider changing your current match making setup. • r/DestinyTheGame

Ya, it's a beautiful game on the PC (going from PS4 and its abysmal frame rate to PC was night and day). However, it will be just as shallow and hollow as the first one if the beta was anything to go by. The pvp game size change was really strange, no additional modes/classes etc, recycled enemies.... I dunno, the whole thing just screams lazy cash grab to me. At least throw in a large scale PVP zone ala AV, a new class, something... Kinda makes sense though when the director is a former video games journalist. All it takes is watching one interview with the guy on youtube to realize he has no fucking idea what he's doing.

Strikes on harder difficulty levels and raids is where it's at for PVE. I played up until raids were released in the first one. If you only play PVE it's where the shitty Sony exclusive hurts, because 1 strike ends up being a pretty large % of the PVE content.

The best parts about strikes were they would change them up, how enemies reacted/attacked/abilities as the weeks went on and on. It was really fun with friends trying to do stupid shit to get kills and win.

Then they would do Iron Banner once a month which was unbalanced PVP but gave insane rewards. It was great for gearing out alts but I hated not being able to kill anyone.

Is there some other fps shooter that isn't "shallow and hollow" in its PvE aspect? Does it really bother people that Bungie decided to call this Destiny 2, rather than say Destiny: Red Legion? My biggest criticism for D2 is the removal of all D1 content. The PvE side of things looks the same, with some tweaks to gear and a more robust Patrol, plus a super annoying Ghost. The PvP changes seem unnecessary for the "low intensity" play, but the 4v4 for "high intensity" seems fine.

I expected more, yes. However, they may have more up their sleeve and it might be why we haven't seen any of it even though that seems unlikely. I hope it's better/deeper than what has been shown.

If I get the same kind of fun out of the game with my friends/FoH ReRes then i'll be completely happy with the game, especially with it on PC.

Well, the PVP aspect is even more hollow so what does this game have going for it? 4v4 PVP is dogshit, with no depth or nuance, and the PVE is just as hollow as the first one so what am I missing here? Don't get me wrong, the game is beautiful and is optimized extremely well on PC - once it drops in price I'll definitely pick it up to pound through the pve stuff, but yet again, Bungie has set the bar so low that so many people are giving them a pass when the game could be great. Just like the first one. A lot of the people working on the game are very obviously talented, but the man at the top has dogshit vision, and has no business directing AAA games for major studios.

Do we know if they will be implementing the systems they had in D1 at the end, like the Strike scoring or a Taken version. Now that I think about it, isn't it odd that the Taken are still around since we killed/banished Oryx? I'd think they would just poof.

I guess I am missing what you mean by "hollow" in regards to fps shooters / Destiny. Destiny 2 is certainly "more" than D1 in PvE, the changes to the Patrols makes that clear, but whether those changes are fun... I can't say yet, since I haven't played that content. It is easy to look back at D1 prior to TTK and say it was bad, but imo, D1 at the end (its current state) is a LOT better than vanilla. The Beta allowed us to play 1 strike, take a look at gear, and get a general feel for how the game plays. I thought the strike was good, and the gameplay felt good. The changes to gear though... that concerns me a bit since we didn't get a chance to check out what impact the gear mods will have. Never been a fan of Destiny PvP aside from some trips into Iron Banner to noob my way to a higher light level.

I'm honestly not sure, they seem to be holding the cards close to their chest on any zones/enemies past the beta demo. I wonder if they have more in store for us than we think since everything seems so hush hush about any other info/designs/zones/etc.. Even my boy @Zarcath seems to be dodging questions but I'm sure he has plenty to do before launch.

With that being said, is Bungie even considering doing cross saves?

As for the taken, I don't know. maybe they will create smaller bands that wander around aimlessly just killing with no one to control/direct them.

All this just makes me glad, once again, to be playing on PC. If the game is as shallow as some of you are concerned about, I'll know in about a month.

Anyone know when press embargos lift? Guessing everyone is tight lipped until the game launches because spoilers, etc even though the internet will let them free the second it's available.

@a_skeleton_03 I'm going to need a channel in Discord that just plays Sabotage 24/7.

Just noticed the text from Gary on that vid, lol.

Bungie is dumb, why didn't they release it this week so that people could play it over the holiday weekend.
