I went to Target with a buddy to do the trade-in promotion thing listed above and there was significant confusion on their part. Despite the game being one of the one's listed as a guaranteed $20 value it came up as $10.93 and there was no indication at all of the Destiny promotion. I showed the website to the associate and the associate's superior who were both quite confused as their point-of-sale system clearly indicated there were no active promotions at this time even though they likewise had the banner ad at the top for the promotion. They agreed to honor the promotion in so far as the value of the game he was trading in and offered to honor the 20% off come next Tuesday when the game is released but there was no coupon or anything, just a promise from the store leader who said she would be working that day and to have the sales associate contact her.

When I got home I double checked that the Target we went to was indeed listed as participating in the promotion and sure enough it was... but now even their own website won't acknowledge the promotion price even though the banner ad still hangs over the transaction. Considering this whole promotion is meant to introduce people to the idea of trading in electronics at Target it seems to be quite a failure.

that seems kinda fucked up, means people who digitally buy 360/ps3 version get two copies of the game essentially, but if you order the ps4/xbone version you only get one (if you have the older console still).

another fucked up destiny thing i've been reading about is that the season pass included with the LE/guardian edition isn't going to be a real season pass. Its going to include the first two DLCs, but there will be a third (and maybe more) that are NOT included.

i think i'm gonna leave my ghost unopened and maybe buy ps3 digital regular, get the free ps4 upgrade, and buy a season pass later on. hmmm something to think about this weekend. my amazon PS4 ghost still hasn't gone into preparing for shipping yet

preorder advanced warfare at gamestop, get a code for blacksmith armor haha

Im kind of surprised that Activision hasn't put a Warlords of Draenor pre-order bonus doo-dad onto Destiny, or thrown in the Ghost or one of the Guardians into Heroes of the Storm. I suppose they really are trying to keep the Blizzard brand distinct from the Activision brand in case they ever want to jettison one.

Went to gamestop and moved my pre-existing but never used 5$ credit to COD just to get the shader. I've used this same 5$ credit a few times now just to get gamestop's pre-order bonuses. It's to bad the Destiny sparrow GS bonus only comes on purchase since I am getting my Ghost through Amazon.

buying digital PS3 destiny does not currently activate PS4 digital destiny, just bought digital PS3 version and PS4 version isn't "free" for me yet. People are saying either it'll happen on 9/9 when you actually load it on PS3, or sometime this weekend when preload activates for PS3.

also it sounds like some (many?) ghost editions of boxes may be completely fucked up from the manufacturer

I havent been this excited for a release since Fallout 3.

I plqn on doing 19-20 hours days during the first week. Should be doing some hars modes by the weekend. Would he cool to get a forum group wrecking shit.

That may be true, but the standalone season pass that you can buy for $35 also only includes the first two DLCs. Either way its still $5 more for the LE once you factor in the cost, or $5 less if you go digital. The ghost edition has the same verbage for the expansion pass as the LE.

Since I have GCU I got 20% off of the LE which makes it actually cheaper to buy than the game+expansion pass, since the pass is digital content and GCU doesn't work on that.

So it looks like we are still missing one of the redemption codes. I think there are 23/25 listed, and one that was unique for attending the destiny thingamabob, which leaves one left.

That's assuming there are 25 of course.

What's the big deal about this? Is the PS3 or Xbox360 version cheaper? And from what spronk says it seems the next gen isn't activated right away anyway.

Seems like a neat promo that allows people to get the game now, and know they won't have to get fucked and rebuy the game if they get a next gen system?

Pretty much sums it up. It was cool you could transfer your characters already and this had me considering waiting to get a PS4 (I didn't!) but knowing you won't have to buy the game a second time, assuming, you go next-gen within the limited time just sweetens the pot. My buddy who was on the fence for Destiny already and can afford to upgrade but hasn't had his interest piqued by this. He knows he'll get a PS4 by early next year for Bloodborne but thinks Destiny is Borderlands with shittier loot. Well played Bungie imo. FFXIV is doing similar but for their own reasons. I had purchased PS3 CE but upgraded to PS4 for free. Granted I don't even play the game I appreciate the gesture and I guess I'd be more inclined to play it in the future if I had not walked away from the MMO genre altogether. Their promo is limited time as well though only running until December.
