While the storyline is certainly much better with the Taken King and we get a lot more characterization from Cayde, Eris, etc. than we had previously, the fallout from the massive story changes from the original are still present. They have done a decent job of re-incorporating Rasputin into the plotline since it was such a focus of the original first act which remained more-or-less intact when the game got reworked, but there's still the matter of the Exo Stranger, the Traveller, the Speaker etc. that have been largely ignored in all the Awoken/Hive/Fallen plotlines that have been underway through the expansions.

I'm guessing someone is writing all this as part of a narrative for Destiny 2 next year, but it would be nice to have at least some hint as to what is going on. I guess I also just really liked the original plot where the Traveller was a force of evil, not good and wasn't protecting the last pocket of humanity but was using them as a human shield.

Oh and it would be nice if someone made sense of why the Exo exist and how they can be guardians.

I still don't have the first fucking clue what's going on in the story. Not even a hint. All I know is I'm a zombie supersoldier like Van Damme in Universal Soldier and I work for a companion cube.

Hit 292 light last night - and I should probably raid. Anyone here raiding this weekend? I have all weekend.

The story will always be the weak point in this game along with its repetitiveness - It is however better than it was in vanilla atleast - I still cant recommend it to friends with Halo and Siege around the corner -

Well that was one of the most exciting moments in Destiny for me last night. Teamed up with two randoms to try and do the quest for Black Spindle. Made a new friend, as one of the guys was chill and knew how to play well. The other guy was OK but seemed to have a short attention span. We fail like 3 times, the short-attention span guy leaves, I go on DestinyLFG and find a 3rd.

We try like 2 more times and die again.

It's like 1:40 AM now, only 20 minutes before the reset. We have one last try to go...before we were trying to burn down the boss but the adds would eventually overwhelm us and we could never kill them all before the timer ran out. This last time we said, you know what, let's just kill adds first, then hit the boss when we are able to. The run goes really smooth, 9 minutes left after the first room, 7 minutes left after the second....this time, we kill adds, the blight, boss is going down reallly slow, but before you know it, we kill the boss, and there is like a minute left on the timer. Two of us are stormcallers, we pop our supers, go to town, room cleared with about 10 seconds to spare!

Got our Black Spindles, one of the other guys got a legendary ship. Look at my clock.....it's 1:57 AM.

So exciting, like the early Everquest days when I got the stupid SMR robe to drop in Lower Guk.

I just dont understand why they dont incoorporate the two last raids into the mix with a new lv 41 and 41hm. With new unique rewards. Shit they could be the old weapons leveled up keeping the op ones out or nerfing them slightly. This game lacks in content and yet they choose to forgo all the old stuff because they think there would be too much to do? This is not wow with a 2 yr expansion cycle and the addition of many raids through that cycle and yet they are doing the same shit like its Blizzard.

Even the new strike playlist does not contain all the strikes they have. Only what, like 5 of them out of the dozen or so? This game should build upon itself rather than cut away all the older shit.

Of course i know its all still there and i can do it but its not the same with no new cool lewtz.

Is this worth buying again? I was thinking about giving this another shot.

I dont have a maxed out character, I only got to like lvl 10 when this first came out. Is it difficult to max out?

This game is nearly a completely different game. They kept the combat flow and supers and changed literally everything else. It's way better this way. Stuff to grind for hardcore grinders and constant progression for filthy casuals. They need to add a few more weekly type things like a big rift type event or something and they'd have a pretty solid game almost worthy of the MMO-RPG label it's mistakenly given.

Yeah I read a lot has changed. I think I'm going to pick this up again to keep me busy until Fallout 4.

two reasons: one, they want people purely focused on the new stuff and not going back to the old stuff right now. second, its easy content they can recycle down the road when there is a long gap and they can just have chad the intern work for a week on re-itemizing and tuning the raids and pop it out as a "free" content DLC and everyone goes nuts and loves them.

same reason why the raid is tuned slightly harder than it really should be, once the heroic version is out and people are starting to get bored and stop playing they can tune down normal a little and people will start playing more. there is a definite tempo and rhythm in content release and tuning to MMO/MOBA style games and bungie has it down at this point, they didn't really at all for the first year.

be interesting to see where Halo 5 and Division fall at, I think the lessons destiny has taken forward is something both will not have incorporated very well.

I'm one of those filthy casuals these days. With kids I just don't have the patience or time for endless repetitive grinds that game developers keep calling "content". My early view of the new xpac seemed like more of the same albeit new strikes and new weapons but it still looked like +gooder content as opposed to creativity. Still my opinion is based on NO EXPERIENCE WITH THE XPAC so i am genuinely curious if the xpac really does present decent content progression that isn't just "collect 1000 bear asses then collect 2000 bear paws now turn in for +10 stats"

Can more people comment on this?

It will hold you a good month or 2 perhaps unless your all over pvp - otherwise like usual you will run out of stuff - Aside from hidden exotics my main is out of shit to do until heroic raid.

I am a filthy casual and there is too much to do; and i am not even 240+ light level yet for the daily pve stuff.

I like shooting stuff and getting constant upgrades while doing so. Can recommend.

I've been sinking hour after hour into the game and I'm enjoying all of it. I still have to beat the TTK raid a few more times + do the hard mode, max out my character, enjoy some more PvP, level up my faction 15 more times and I have to go back and raid Crota and then do Prison of Elders at least once. So it's not like classic MMO's where you jump in for 8 months but it is absolutely worth a $40-60 investment, I can't see most people not getting at least an hour of gameplay for every dollar they spent on the game.

Is the raid puggable? I haven't done it yet at all, but I'm stuck at 290 light and having a bitch of a time getting past it. Imbued my rifle up this morning using a 300 handgun, and it got stuck at 299. Sigh.

Probably play a bunch this weekend if anyone wants to do some strikes or whatever. Only at 287 so not really ready for raid I guess.

Seems like they nerfed the drop rate for blues from 36 strikes. Did two last night after doing my daily chores and got shit. People quitting now left and right, WTF bungie?

I'm reading reports that engrams just don't drop except from the last bosses. Of course they didn't hotfix afaik and I got a shit ton of blues from strikes yesterday, so could just be bad RNG.
