For whatever reason the bosses in HR were outsourced to a studio who apparently didn't know anything about the rest of the game or the franchise. The devs have specifically said that the if you want to do a true "no kill, ghost" play through in Mankind Divided, you can. Even including the bosses.

Yeah that was a really...blisteringly stupid move on the part of whoever made that decision with the first game.
First game was literally 10/10 if you pretended the boss fights didn't exist.

I got The Fall on my iPad when it first released. It definitely would be garbage on PC. It was -ok- on the tablet, but unless you're a hardcore Deus Ex fan, I'd recommend the synopsis over the actual game. It was pretty weak and clearly intended to be part one of at least 3-4 parts. I guess it sold so poorly that the sequels never came.

Yeah, those are the bosses that were outsourced and everyone bitched about. Outsourcing is pretty common in video game development. If I had to guess I'd say that they thought bosses were the easiest part of the project to outsource since they're isolated experiences in a small arena. If they had a fixed ship date and not enough resources to meet that date and include boss fights in the game, it's pretty easy to see why they would outsource them.
Let's not forget that publishers always have arbitrary demands to include certain features because games that are X genre MUST have Y feature or "people won't buy the game." I imagine when they pitched Deus Ex as an FPS-RPG all the publisher heard was FPS and told the studio to make sure the boss fights were awesome.

They probably had two different teams - "live" support team and the GotY team. Whoever the producer was on the GotY team obviously didn't think to ask the other team lead what bugs they fixed while they were working on the newest version.

I don't think there's any incentive to preorder if you're on the fence. I've preordered but I'm a huge Deus Ex fan boy. The press previews and the official gameplay trailers make it look pretty fucking awesome (to me). I especially like that they're using an engine that doesn't look 10 years old this time around.

They had pretty obnoxious preorder bonuses, but that all got killed when TB and few others raised their voice and eventually it got delayed so I don't think there are any. There's been a post about Deus Ex announcer pack for Dota 2, but that's still waiting for approval from Valve I think.

FFS I know that outsourcing is common, I used to work in a dev studio. My point was why outsource bosses in such a story heavy game when bosses are traditionally a very important part of said story? The vast majority of outsourced stuff in games is art assets, you don't outsource core parts of the game.
