I'm not trying to whitewash Blizzard's mistakes with D3, but lets at least be accurate in our criticisms of them. 1.0.8 came out May 7th.

I will say that the overwhelming majority of changes in RoS look good. The only one I'm mad about is that they seem to be backing off the idea of allowing people to recoup resources(spirit, fury, mana, etc) through dps. It's really interesting that you can get viable barb builds with no fury generators because of Into The Fray. But they nerfed that a few beta patches ago and further removed some other classes' versions today.

I don't even understand the design reason behind it. With the removal of the AH, it's essentially an online single player game. Who cares if some shit is OP or not working as intended. That's fun!

I don't get how they could fuck up chat functionality so bad. What the fuck was wrong with D2's system? You have your chats and you have a cool listing of character avatars at the bottom. Just use that as a foundation and improve it by having each avatar act as a profile that people can look at for skill sets/equipment/achievements/whatever. Come on Blizzard, you're better than this.

This was the most frustrating part of playing Witch Doctor, having to take up a slot with mana generator and being constatly out of mana. I dont know why we cant just have something like Insight runeword back or at least resource potions.

Yeah, I'll still play it, but I'm really disheartened about them crushing CM wizards and whirlwind barbs. With all the new item effects, hopefully something similar will emerge.

The difficulty and monster power systems have been streamlined. Normal, Nightmare, and Hell no longer exist. Instead, monsters' levels will now scale with your hero's level.
hrmmm

The demon hunter changes look like good times.

Ehhhh, I guess. The other big ARPGs people are playing now have been droppin content updates on the reg this whole time though. It's just kinda lame.
Well if you mean PoE and Marvel, different revenue means different ways to deal with it. Since they're F2P but sell cosmetics(or in marvel case content) all the time, they can easily afford to keep producing content, and they want to so they keep selling stuff. Diablo on the other hand, similar to say torchlight, is a box cost. They produce the content for the box, then do a couple of updates to fix most of the issues and don't update until they produce an expansion that they sell as another box. It's how Diablo 1/2, Torchlight 1/2, Titan Quest, Sacred 1/2 and such worked.

Granted Blizzard also made money off the RMAH, probably as much or more than PoE or Marvel did with their primary source of revenue, on top of box sales. So the fact they didn't update any fucking content is most certainly because they're greedy fuckers, but eh.

For seeing how quickly F2P ARPGs drop content/fix content I almost wish Diablo went the F2P model. At least with that model you don't just sell boxes then sit on your hands because you already got your money. If people aren't actively playing and enjoying the game you're going to stop making money.

On the other hand, look how many new bugs Marvel Heroes drops weekly.

I'd rather have fresh buggy content than stale stable content. And for how quickly they push stuff out I'm shocked the stuff isn't more bugged.

So what's the deal with the different difficulty levels on console? I think they unlocked at level 10, but on Normal mode... I can choose Easy, Medium, Hard, Master 1-5... I loaded up a level 1 on Master 5 to try it out, and shit was hard!! Was getting killed in 1 hit, but as a demon hunter, I was able to manage... lots of kiting. I was level 2 by the time I even talked to Rumford basically.

But are these supposed to be when I get some more sweet gear, and I want to make things more difficult? Is this the answer to the new loot system? Loot enough stuff to make it easy, and you can just up the difficulty on your current game?

Kind of confused about what it's for... I can't imagine Inferno difficulty... on Master 5 difficulty. See what I mean, it's like 2 different sets of difficulty built in. Confused!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. They still have Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno.

But for each of those they have Easy, Medium, Hard, Master 1, Master 2, Master 3, Master 4, and Master 5.

So I haven't beaten the game yet, so I'm on Normal - Hard mostly. For fun, I mentioned I loaded up a level 1 on Normal - Master 5, and shit was hard!

I was just confused what they were for, as on Master 5, there's no way that shit's for a brand new character without any gear.

Well it's not for new characters then.

And they are removing them apparently, at least that's what was posted a few posts earlier, I guess from the datamined stuff of the beta client. I assume you just playthrough the game once and then you have to grind the rest of your levels on whatever you want vs being forced to redo the entire game on multiple difficulties? I could get behind that, while I don't necessarily mind the multiple difficulty thing(well other than in D3 cause the difficulty was fucking shit so it was just very tedious) it really makes no difference if you play the game once then can just do adventure mode mp0-1 to get max level so you can skip the areas you don't like(fucking desert shit) and stay on the ones you like, or are most efficient.

Well as of right now, on console at least, it still has the 4 difficulties. When I go to select a quest it asks Normal, and then has Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno greyed out, since I haven't beaten the game yet. Then it asks Easy, Medium, Hard, Master 1, etc. So it's added 1 more layer of difficulty to it. Maybe this is in prep for the changes coming, but at first glance it was confusing what it was for.

I admit, I'm more of a fan of having hella hard (Master 5) monsters all over, and increased loot and experience gains from it, so I can hit at least level 50+ from 1 play through if I wanted to do it that way. Some parts might get tedious, but I feel that sure as hell beats having to run through pretty much the exact same shit over and over again for the purposes of leveling. Farming gear, that's different.
