Haven't been able to log in this fucking game in over 16 hours now. Apparently upstate NY + TWC = bad for any blizzard products this week end.

Fuck.
it's not just upstate. i'm in the Syracuse area and my wife and I can't play wow together without one of us lagging at a crucial moment that ends in both of us dead. I don't know if it's the weather? frozen power lines or something... who knows...

So messing around with my barb. The rend/revenge with HoTA or SS seems okay for grindy runs. Not much chance of dying with my shitty gear at T2-3, but really slow. On the other hand running rend/charge/Warcry/Boulder toss is really great burst and clears a hundred times faster. Sadly if I position wrong or run in to a shitty affix combo that can lock me down then I get popped instantly. Barb needs better farming choices IMO. Was really jealous running around with my Wizard/monk buddies with how safe and fast they could farm.

My friends list that entirely hasn't played in a long time is mostly playing recently - got a feeling their hardware might be getting taxed...

WW is definitely weaker than it was, no argument. But it was really just the best way to go before if you had the gear, bar none, even above other classes. It's fine that it's not the de facto build anymore. I haven't had to chance to play with other builds on my barb yet but I would say DH still feels the weakest and least fun out of all of them. DH builders feel like they do nothing, the spenders either rape or also do nothing, their utility feels down overall. They just are overgeared and fun or adequately/undergeared and awful.

A few hours late, but this is what's in their launcher:

Northeastern Connectivity Issues

Some players in the northeastern region of the United States are currently experiencing connection issues with our games. Some symptoms of this issue are "Error #2," "Character not Found," and "Error 33." We're investigating the possible causes of the issue at this time.

Have you tried Ancient Spear? It's the only reason I haven't tried other classes.

Grayson - Community - Diablo IIIMy spec is just a bunch of things I like using put together, but it's good AoE damage or single target, using Leap defensively or offensive, and stunning shit is always useful. It's fun for me.
Do you mean using as something to clump monsters? Seemed to narrow for that. I didn't get the point of ancient spear in a limited rage environment, didn't seem to hit enough mobs. Why not use seismic slam instead?

EDIT: I did try your build. I'm not even sure how to play it. A ranged spender and builder paired with pbae abilities and clumping abilities. Just felt weird. When do you use ancient spear?

And let me reiterate, using weapon throw just felt bad. It's like the game was punishing me for running out of fury. It's like Amzin said with his DH, they feel like they do nothing. Builders for the sake of building is boring gameplay. And if I'm sitting there tossing a 3-4 axes into someone's face when I could have been mowing them over, it disrupts the flow of killing shit. I don't feel this way on my monk because CW(and all spirit gens except FoT) spawns a bunch of nados. And I'm doing damage with SW base and MoR CD. Shit's going on even though all I'm doing is hitting a builder. And more specifically, I'm still mowing shit down.

idk, maybe blizzard should rethink think whole builder/spender dichotomy.

Yah, the builders do blow. My point was that despite how bad combat feels when you're out of Fury, using Ancient Spear feels good.

Ancient Spear doesn't need Harpoon, I only recommended the skill itself (my build is an odd playstyle) because it's a lot of damage and feels good. Though I can often hit 7-8 things at once with everything clumped up, it also takes down elites and bosses very quickly while keeping you safe if the ground gets messy. It's just a different feeling than Seismic Slam for roughly the same return, while in some situations being more useful and others, less.

If you want to understand my build, then read on.

There's 2 situations you typically get into: Lots of easy, AoE-able stuff, or very few (1 even) enemies that are difficult to manage and you don't necessarily want to go toe to toe with.
In the former:
Weapon Throw with Ricochet is an easier to use Cleave with higher Fury gen; in this case it's not a ranged generator, and neither is Ancient Spear primarily a ranged spender.
Leap and Stomp are both used to gather things up, then Rend for value, Spear when you would use Seismic and Revenge for the really crazy cluster fucks (mostly things die before the stun from Stomp wears off). You could replace Revenge with any of the shouts, Sprint, Ignore Pain or Overpower.

When you have fewer enemies, or really sticky situations like 7 waller/plague champs in a tight space:
Leap and Stomp are used defensively to get some ground. Weapon Throw is used to keep doing damage while kiting, and Ancient Spear can be used to pick apart groups or separate stuff to take them on one at a time. Rend any time things get close. I almost never use Revenge in these cases, so I'm going to try swapping it for something else that works in both scenarios.

Anyway, I get to brawl, leap, stun and throw spears through enemies' chests, which is all I could ever ask for in a Barb.

So... any good farm areas now? I assume Tormet 6 has the highest % drop chances?

Fired this up after not playing for well over a year (2 years? When was this released, 2012?)... having a ton of fun. Started a Wizard and got a legendary neck with +20% to arcane dmg, a helm/legs each with +13% disintegrate dmg and am just destroying shit in split seconds. Just killed Belial without getting touched in a matter of seconds as well. Guess that will even out in Master++ mode or whatever.

I've been playing Marvel Heroes, which is a great free game - but I definitely missed not being able to visualize my characters advancement. Costumes just aren't the same thing. Looking forward to playing Crusader as well.

Same here. I started fresh with a Wizard a few days ago, too. Just got to L60 today without cheesing.

Coupla quick pointers:

Always select the most difficult mode that you can get by with. Until you complete the game, you have access toNormal, Hard, and Expert. Go for the hardest first. If your character isn't cutting it, grab from the AH whatever highest DPS weapon that also has your main stat on it. Don't give two shits about the other stats. Look at this chart:

PC Difficulty Levels

Available at any time:
Normal: 100% Health, 100% Damage, 0% extra gold bonus, 0% extra XP bonus
Hard: 200% Health, 130% Damage, +75% extra gold bonus, 75% extra XP bonus
Expert: 320% Health, 189% Damage, 100% extra gold bonus, 100% extra XP bonus

Available after complete ACT IV:
Master: 512% Health, 273% Damage, 200% extra gold bonus, 200% extra XP bonus

All these levels are available at L60:
Torment I: 819% Health, 396% Damage, 300% extra gold bonus, 300% extra XP bonus
Torment II: 1311% Health, 575% Damage, 400% extra gold bonus, 400% extra XP bonus
Torment III: 2097% Health, 833% Damage, 550% extra gold bonus, 550% extra XP bonus
Torment IV: 3355% Health, 1208% Damage, 800% extra gold bonus, 800% extra XP bonus
Torment V: 5369% Health, 1752% Damage, 1150% extra gold bonus, 1150% extra XP bonus
Torment VI: 8590% Health, 2540% Damage, 1600% extra gold bonus, 1600% extra XP bonus

Hard and Expert are so easy that you are wasting your time by going Normal mode. Grab Master once you complete Act IV. Lots more XP and money for really zero extra work. Like I said, hit the AH for the cheapest high DPS/core stat weapon that you can find if you are having a hard time with a certain difficulty. I started Master with a 239 DPS weapon, and it was slow going. I grabbed a 560 DPS weapon for 60k and blitzed my way to L60 on Master.

I just started T1 with my (now) L60/5 Wizard, and it's a completely different game than non Torment levels. I'll juice up the difficulty when I finish spackling in some of the holes in my gear.

Sold two decent rares for a couple million each. Amulet seems to be a popular spot that still sells, other things to look out for are +Type damage increased by % that shows up on bracers and a few other places.

So getting best results in t3 right now with

Rend: Bloodlust
Furious charge: Merciless assault
Warcry: Charge!
WoTB: Insanity
Frenzy: Maniac
Ancient spear: Boulder toss

Ferocious charge is actually bread and butter for the build because you can chain cast it once you've gathered the mobs for good damage, lifesteal, and fury gen for boulder toss. Pop Wotb for elite packs and toss on rend when you cant chain charge for healing and smaller pack damage. Warcry is there for additional burst or as a rage builder when you get down to that one pesky elite target. Actually kind of a fun build, which I wasn't sure i was going to find on my barb pre 70.

Ya, figured that out pretty quick. Started in hard - but it was stupid easy - switched to expert in Act 2 and its still stupid easy. Shit hits harder, but it still dies just as fast. I'm a glass cannon right now, which I'm sure in 10 levels I'll have to adjust so I can stay alive.

Also, can I not buy gold right now on the RMAH? I put $10 in there hoping to get a few million gold but it won't allow me to do it... =/
