Highest mob and elite/champion density in the game, and it seems to get more dense the deeper you go, but that could just be my experience. Rift Guardians are fine, but they don't have a better chance to drop a legendary than any other pack really. I was in a game with a group that actually full-cleared two rifts and got a stupid amount of legendaries (like 5?), before this latest hotfix, on T2. There's just SO MANY packs. We were fighting 2-3 at a time typically.
Don't know if it's depth related. It's certainly map related though. Prison, swamp, cemetary? Lots of elites. That map that the entrance portal was on top of the giant beast's head? FUCK THAT MAP. Sparse mob populations and few elites. Takes a while to traverse, dead ends everywhere. Huge waste of time.

I do agree, it seems worth the time to clean the rift in full, as long as you skip the bad maps.

This has been Blizzard's largest hangup lately, as well as most gaming developers. Emergent gameplay rarely exists anymore, because it gets quashed at every turn for doing things outside the realm of "intended". Now, obviously certain exploits/bugs/etc. need to be fixed right away, but I get so sick of developers implementing a new method of play, and immediately demanding that the new method be used, even at the determent of all other possible methods.
I reworded it to unwad any panties that feel that boring the shit out of yourself killing one mob over and over or running past everything to loot chests is something that game mechanics should greatly encourage, and that developers should ignore such "emergent" results because they are organic or some such fucking thing.

(instead, they just nerf the fuck out of each run people come up with, which is why I suggest a solution that replaces the nerfs with a bigger carrot)

New gambling actually yielded a legendary in my first 200-300 shards spent. Hope that trend continues, as I had spent at least 2000 with 0 legos prior to the fix.

BTW, is there a post with Diablo name and forum name somewhere? I have no idea who ~70% of you bastards are in the clan =).

Oh and on rift density, I haven't found anything to lead me to believe the deeper you go the better it is, it is seemingly random. And with Kadala getting a "bigger boost" than the drop rate as long as rift fragments aren't a concern you're likely better off doing more rifts for more blood shards. But clearing the whole rift is obviously better than farming outside a rift for the double legendary drop rate.

Also has anyone come across new rift only levels/maps? Doing a rift over the weekend and we entered a level that looked like the warden's lvl, but it was about 4x the size and there was about 40 elites in it. Pretty sure it was a lvl created just for rifts, unless its a side dungeon in a5 I missed.

I gambled 2 legendary helms out of 100 shards last night. For some reason it didn't add them to transmog through even after equipping. Naturally both were shit.

How are fellow monks dealing with OWE? I can't decide if Blizzard designed monk survivability around the assumption of OWE or not. Either way, not looking forward finding legendaries with 4/5 correct stats instead of the 3/4 everyone else gets. I got extremely lucky with my strongarms, it dropped with 5/5 affixes. I'm doubting most of my legendary drops, even ones I want, will even be 3/5.

Barbs and crusaders can deal with mobs that run just fine without taunt, just switch to ranged attacks/pulls. Crusaders ranged attacks are really good.

GD the WD changes are real, time to go wild on my WD then until I get the mask and gaunts.
Fetishes are so damn OP! As soon as I get my Starmetal, shit's on like donkey kong!

In the mean time, running a cold build with Haunt, Spirit Barrage, and Frozen Piranhas. It works out really well actually.

Maybe Pyros can chime in though, I feel grave injustice passive is kind of wasted. It makes laying Piranhas down very easy, as the cooldown is reset almost immediately, but the cooldown is only 8 seconds anyway. Maybe changing to Piranhado, which makes it a 16 second cool down, but with a 4 second CC would be better. Everything will already be slowed from Haunt or Spirit Barrage.

It wasn't necessarily a direct comment on your write-up, more of just something that I'm sick of seeing from developers. I'm fine with them making rifts the bigger(est)carrot, but then they go and rape the fuck out of chestsandunique monsters on top of it? It's that heavy-handed style of nerfing that I get sick of.Justincreasing the legendary chances by 100% in rifts probably makes it the larger carrot. Nerfing the hell out of chests and uniques on top if it, just makes it obvious that they are trying to force a certain style of play. If people want to take the "easy" way out and farm chests/uniques? Who gives a shit. It's boring as hell and if you make rifts lucrative enough, people who want to actually enjoy themselves won't do it very often.
