I'm active again; working on the demon hunter but also working on a monk now. Though as others have stated that probably won't matter but meh.

It's honestly amazing how much more I want to play knowing the AH is getting nixed.

I'm more like waiting for the big patch to hit before I check it out again, loot 2.0 and all that shit. I guess it'll be coming with skill changes from the expansion like they do with wow?

2.0 aint happening until the expansion so whenever that happens.

also my battletag is
Xzi#1212

I mostly play normal because I keep getting brief continuous lag spikes every 5-10 minutes which sometimes causes me to die.

yeah... seriously... i never had lag issues outside of the first few days of release... but i've played probably 6 hours in the last week and EVERY 10 MINUTES i die due to a lag spike where nothing registers for about 30-45 seconds. it's infuriating. how did things get worse?

Didn't say it was soon, I expect in a few months, probably next year, don't see much of a point to play now other than everything is cheap kind of thing is all.

It's probably because I started playing and the servers just can't take me.

Yeah Pyros I think that's a good plan. The game is actually pretty good now but a fresh start on new servers with 2.0 would be a lot of fun, probably more fun than release and more fun than playing now where the game is sort of trivial in that you could level to 60 and use the money you saved up getting to 60 buying gear on the AH that would enable you to faceroll Diablo on inferno mode.

I'm having a lot of fun but thinking about doing what you're doing. Then again I'd probably have the same problem playing Diablo3 with no AH that I had playing Path of Exile. You gear up to a point until you realize the most effective way to improve your character's power is to sit in trade channels / use websites and hope to be able to meet up with someone ingame.

I still hop online from time to time. I'm a WW/Rend barb who can comfortably solo MP8 and go up to MP10 if need be -- but it isn't very efficient for my current gear. Like mostly everyone else I find little reason to playing at the moment since the game will be overhauled in half a year or so.

I am playing again too. Working on making my WD viable, but I don't get much playtime. haha

Looking at difference builds to see which is optimal for me.

How does the Infernal Machine work? If I fail killing a boss does it consume the infernal machine or what?

The 5 second run down:

Key 1 in Act 1
Key 2 in Act 2
Key 3 in Act 3
Recipe in Act 4

Kill the Keywardens in the three acts (Fields of Misery, Oasis, Stonefront, I can't remember Act4's.) Teach your blacksmith the recipe which requires keys 1,2,3 to create the Infernal Machine. You need at minimum three Machines to make a Hellfire Ring. In Act1 bust down the door to the house next to the vendor (near where Cain used to stand.) Use a Machine to open a portal to an uber. You need a part from each of the three ubers to make a ring. The drop rate for parts is basically MP Lvl * 0.10. So MP10 guarantees a drop. Take all three parts to the Jeweler and he can make you a ring with your desired primary stat + random rolls. If you fail to kill the uber / leave the game the Machine was consumed in the process of making the portal.

So basically farm up 3 sets of keys, ask around on reddit if people want to do mp10 run and then use all of them is the least painful way to do it ?

Can your whole group use the portal and get a drop or does everyone need their own keys?

Yeah probably. Honestly I don't know how popular MP10 carrying is these days for rings. The value of the Hellfire Ring took a nosedive when they bumped up the XP rates per MP level. It used to be that 35% XP was a big chunk of bonus XP when you were only getting +75% or whatever from MP bonus. But now that at MP5, which is pretty easy to do, you can get 158% bonus XP that +35% is less and less of a bonus by percentage of the overall bonus XP. I don't really know how many people still run around with Hellfire rings equipped. I know I ditched mine in favor of a ring to give me actual DPS stats. Considering at MP8 you get +208% XP, +100% XP from NV5, +27% from Ruby Helm moving from +335% to +370% is only a 9.5% increase.

Whole group can use the portal. It was customary to run ubers with other people who had keys so you could remake the game and do consecutive uber runs, but you can probably find someone to do it for you on mp10 so you're guaranteed the drop.

Good point. I didn't realize how much xp stacked up.

I never liked +MF/+XP gear. To me it just motivated players to gimp themselves for efficiency, and if you're always playing at a lower level then your max it just felt wrong.

Then again maybe it's like shonnen manga where you get beaten by something and take your training weights off.

The MP + NV really interact together pretty well that it rewards you for equipping for maximum DPS for the most part. You don't want to stack too much MF/GF/XP bonus because you will find you get better drops, magic find and XP bonus by simply equipping for DPS and doing higher MP. Prior to the patch that increased the XP bonus by MP level it was pretty common to gimp yourself for XP. You just get a high DPS weapon and get good stats in slots you cannot possibly find +XP then throw on Cain's Set, Leoric and Hellfire and go to town on MP1. At that time the bonus HP rate of the mobiles scaled at a rate that wasn't in line with the rate of the scaling for MF/GF/XP. So it made no sense to leave MP1.

I'll also be "that guy" and plug Marvel Heroes if you're looking for an ARPG fix before Diablo 3 really rights itself. The developers for that game have done an outstanding job in the months since it's so-so release and it is now a really fun game.

Yep, game taps the ARPG vein so well, and they're pumping out patches/content twice a month or so, it's crazy.
