Ugh-- I watched the most recent episode "Boom."
Ncuti Gatwa is a good actor-- but kind of over-the-top with this episode. It tries too hard to pull at the heartstrings and kind of fails.
I think there is a connection between this episode and Time Bandits in that it was trying to achieve the emotional discordance that Terry Gilliam left his viewers with at the end of that film. If you haven't seen it or don't understand the reference, I apologize. Either way-- if Moffat was trying for a big emotionally ambivalent episode, I didn't feel it. It was trying to be deep and meaningful but it was cringe-worthy.
I don't know why I torture myself with the show. I want it to succeed. But I never got through Star Trek Discovery either. And I will be sucked in for another hour come episode 5.
RTD needs to be escorted off BBC premises. There is hope with the cast and budget and fan-base/potential fan-base.
So irritating.
