But yeah, you don't go out of your way to say how your XP store is only cosmetic and you can ignore it and its all free if there isn't something fishy going on along with it. They are already selling you skins and bonus levels behind the deluxe preorder paywall.

So I have no idea why you people think they wouldn't use non MTX MTX shenanigans too.

ID is NO LONGER ID. They are OWNED by Bethesda and it is PUBLISHED as well by Bethesda. They are the same company my man. So...

ID Does NOT exist save a brand name. ID IS Bethesda. They have ZERO autonomy. It's a Bioware/EA relationship here.

Of course you can earn them. Let me tell you how this goes and has been done with Ubisoft games:

Set a base progression modifier in which the progression is based on "X". In this case, X is based on in game currency. Reduce that base progression modifier by "Y", Sell "Y" as an XP Boost to come back to baseline. Z is what an item costs.

Without "Y", you are gimped and lose your mind in a forced grind to drive you insane using X to buy Z. With "Y" (A paid for XP Boost to bring it back to baseline) you are playing the game the way it was meant to be played, except you just had to pay to get it back to the baseline it was originally balanced around to begin with. You get what X was supposed to be all along to buy Z.

3 months later, "Patch" X back to baseline, (Delete Y, and keep Z constant) Apologize for the "bug", become better from a PR perspective, make additional revenue, and no one is the wiser. Welcome to how Ubisoft and Warner Brothers is conducting their model today.

You realize this tactic has been used in AC Origins, AC Odyssey, Shadows of War, etc. correct? Here is Shadows of War exactly how I just spelled it out, except their length of time was 6 months instead of 3.


It's all about hiding the systems and gearing games as carefully as they can to a gaas service based on the mobile market and keeping it as hidden as possible. In the case of SoW, it was blatant. Revenue stopped 5 months in, they ripped it out with a patch in June 2018. Origins and Odyssey reduced baseline standard by 50% in XP gains for progression throughout the entire game, and added a perm XP boost to get that back to baseline. 6 months later they patched it out and allowed the user to define Mob levels on their own so XP barely even mattered that much anymore if you wanted to just play through story bits.

It's not a conspiracy theory. It's being leveraged across the industry.

How does that effect this? Easy. XP is a currency in Doom Eternal to unlock shit in the base. Reduce XP, Sell XP Boosts RMT, unlock things at a pace it was originally meant to be.

Bethesda is a follower not a leader, although F076 was a hilarious WTF moment where they just threw anything at it they could to make money regardless of PR on Bethesda.

Exactly I could be completely wrong. If this was CDPR, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. It's fucking Bethesda, however.

Also on that, you can always rent (Gamefly) to play fairly close to launch but they may hold off on any negative PR inducing "Features" (MTX) until 2-3 weeks after launch. So for instance, The season pass does come free - (Most games have a freemium version of a season pass - (Rocket league, apex) but will charge for a premium pass. That to me isn't a big deal because I received both games for free. With this, they could be very well laying down a baseline and patching in the MTX systems later to avoid that bad PR for the initial 2 week launch window everyone cares about for some reason even though with sales and such that launch window for capitalizing the most sales should be thrown out the same window. I think we will see more and more come throughout the next 1-2 months post launch rather than right AT launch. Who knows though - it's Bethesda - these idiots are clueless, out of touch, and just pure unethical from start to finish on anything they have their mitts on.
