- Changed drag-select of units to use the same hit detection as click-select. This fixes a number of issues where units would not get selected.
i fucking knew something was wrong with their unit selection

I wonder if Troll will be used on the pro scene. I could see him being ran as a 2-4 simply because his ultimate is so strong. I don't think he scales well enough to be a 1, though.

-edit-

Actually would he be a decent counter-pick to a carry Naix?

I think troll will be experimented with, but I'm not sure exactly how that will play out. His ult is a super sterroid for the team, he probably fits in a 2 or 3 core lineup with some kind of timing around teamfighting. But there is still the entire aspect of global hasting anyone on your team with their gank attempts. As rapid of cooldown as it is. We'll see though. The main weakness of troll is he isn't much of a 1v1 hero. So you almost have to put him in the safelane to start the game I'd think.

Yeah I think what he brings to the table is right at level 6 your opponent has a really hard time taking "even" team fights. Because Troll will simply pop the ulti and all of a sudden the other team is right clicking you down. I think it will be interesting.

Lets not forget elder titan. I was hoping they'd have had him in for TI3, could have made some interesting line ups.

Troll has been considered OP in scrims and shit by pros, it's not really the carry potential, it's the pushing the ultimate offers, it's absolutely ridiculous to push towers with, basically, if glyph isn't up, tower is going to go down before you can get there to defend. Wouldn't be surprised if he's banned a lot. Elder Titan we'll see, I think his offlane was good in dota1 but laning changed a bit and it's a lot riskier to run solo offlanes nowadays than it used to be, people have become better at killing solos so it'll be rougher. Also he's still bugged and you can't use his spirit to block the pull. Abaddon might see some use, I'm hoping he will. Centaur I don't really know, maybe. I don't know how he fares against traditional mids with bottle crowing like puck or qop and if you want a mid that can get 6 fast for teamfights, I think a Tide or a Magnus is still going to be better overall. I don't think you want centaur on a trilane either.

So yeah, we'll see, but it should shake some things up, whenever tournaments start again.

Anyone follow Dendi on twitter? He posted that he and XBox have joined Zenith with Chuan making Zenith's line up Dendi/XBox/Chaun/Iceiceice and 1 other. With Dendi saying he would go carry and XBox go hard lane with Iceiceice going mid still.

They're getting Saint Vicious from LoL as their 5th, straight to TI4.

Okay so DOTA2 is my first ever moba game and I've clocked just over 1000 games played at this point, unfortunately I still fucking suck. I'm pretty proficient with basic mechanics at this point like last-hitting and whatnot, and I'm familiar with the whole gamut of heroes and their abilities (although I'm not always sure who will come out on top when two heroes go toe to toe), but I feel like I've definitely assimilated most of the basic knowledge and reached a plateau.

I'm just wondering where to turn to help build my skill set beyond the basics, any advice?

Tip: Ignore Sutekh.

What's your win rate like? It's hard to understand what you mean by suck if you understand last hitting, mechanics, and the hero's capabilities.

Are you not our prodigal star reborn of Sutekh or do you just not win as often as you think you should? What's going on?

Watch a few profesional player games is all I could suggest at this point really. That's what helped me reach the next stage back then :\ Other than that it's a slow process called experience... Even profesionals with 10k+ games played are still learning things about the game.

Friend me and play some games with me, should bump up the ELO to be a little more difficult for you, and that way I can get a sense of what you don't understand about the game flow, might help. Just let me know.

My win-loss ratio is like 556-522. I'm not worried about winning more, since as far as I know the match making system is supposed to keep you around 50%. I guess I just feel like my game sense is not that great and despite playing a lot of games I don't feel like I'm making a lot of improvement at this point.

The best comparison I can make is to Starcraft. In Starcraft I always had an acute awareness of everything that was happening in the game: when my opponent was strong, when I was weak, when to take a big risk or switch up my build, how to play from behind, how any given battle would likely play out, etc, etc. In DOTA, aside from an overall sense of who is winning and losing and where each hero is on the map, I feel like I don't have such a great sense of these things. Maybe in part because of the added difficulty of coordinating of teammates who might not be taking the same tactical/strategic approach in a given situation and maybe in part because I ALWAYS pick a random hero which maybe hasn't given me the deepest possible understanding of a particular play style (which is a contrast to SC where I always played the same race).

Anyway, maybe I'll try to pick-up a few more games in the RR channel so I can get some more direct feedback.
