We're just lucky dota2 was done by a good company, unlike VG.
Well obviously you don't copy the game 1:1 but there's a lot of concepts that are gone in lol and could work fine, such as stacking, pulling, denying, summon based heroes/multiple units heroes, TP scrolls, courier, buybacks, tower invuln and a lot of items like sheep, bkb, orchid, force staff, blink dagger and so on. Some games have taken one or two of these but most completely ignore these because lol didn't copy them, while they can be very interesting mechanics that don't necessarily rely on obscure shit like "mkb ministun is magic so it doesn't go through bkb but basher stun is physical so it does" and so on. New games iterate on LoL, not on Dota.
