PPD is really an evil genius when it comes to drafting, but it seems like it will go at least 4 games

Ahh yeah, listening to the Chinese stream to hear how disheartened the chinese casters sound as USA destroys them in their favorite game. It's so amazing.

Aui must be so happy to have been kicked from C9. He can finally win a tournament.

Sumail is 15 and been a pro player for a couple months. He's going to pocket around 150k after taxes just for this tournament.

DAC produced some great games. I love this new EG. I never thought I'd see a NA team go into China and smash them in their first "TI".

Love this EG. Sumail is such a wild card, he makes the unpredictable and brilliant plays. Some of the drafts and strategies PPD came up with really made the other teams look helpless. Universe is still in the "pound for pound" best player in the world discussion. Fear and Aui are just so solid, rarely make mistakes or throws.

That sumail play where he ziped by terrorblade into the unknown to rape the shaman that was hiding behind him out of sight and got black to blow his bkb in the making was a thing of beauty.

I also learned there are apparently weight classes in Dota 2 tournaments.

Wasn't unknown you newb. Zeus had ulti'd moments before so they knew SS was sitting there and the team was mia!

So after watching the finals, really seemed like Sumail got a bit too much credit... he made a lot of mistakes compared to the rest of his team - it was mostly the casters hyping him up and people parroting it.

Somebody on reddit summed it up: you don't pick up pubstars to make calculated and defensive plays, veterans can do that much better because they were playing competitive matches for years. You pick up pubstars because they go ham all the time, TA, Tinker, Storm, SF, all heroes with very high solo kill potential that will fuck shit up. PPD knew that and drafted around it, always leaving Sumail hero for like the last 2 picks so he doesn't get crippled into midgame by counterpicking and then just let him loose.

Winter wyvern, 6.84, possibly an arcana and new bloom event and maybe, if we are all really nice, source 2.

He made some mistakes for sure, but he also played some stuff really well. He still has a lot to learn but that's the whole point of "omg so young" shit, he's probably nowhere near his true potential, assuming he doesn't crumble under the pressure at some point on the way.

Reddit had an interesting post though on how he used the quickbuy feature very efficiently to minimize the impact of all his deaths in that 3rd game. Everytime he died, he bought something right before and only lost like 90gold total or some shit(don't remember exact numbers). Bought a TP, then wand+TP, then TP again then he bought a bottle .16seconds before he died with the gold he got from killing Witch Doctor at the same time. It's the small things that might be harder to learn if you've been playing dota since dota1 and shit that a new player will pick up from the start and build around.

But overall, he's definitely the weakest player on the team. Fear has been a monster all the tournament, PPD drafting was on point, Aui played solid all around and Universe is Universe, guy is really just fucking good.

What's funny is the whole hype around Sumail might have actually helped EG by focalizing people on killing him, keeping him down, when really he was rarely the most threatening player.

Sumail made a lot of yolo plays but created a lot of space for Fear in almost every game. It worked out better because Fear can now play a traditional hard carry instead of a semi-core and letting Arteezy farm the whole map.
